I have created a timed quiz using Storyline 2. However, the result slide only takes into account the question slides that have been viewed up to the point the quiz times out and gives the pass rate from this, even though the quiz still has multiple questions left to be answered. Therefor the student thinks they have passed, when infact they have failed. I want it to record the questions that the student hasn't accessed yet as wrong to give an accurate overall result.
If a learner doesn’t finish the quiz in time, they will get a message telling them they've exceeded the time limit. They can click the OK button and submit an answer for the question they’re currently on, but not for any of the remaining questions. Any unanswered questions will be marked incorrect.
This is exactly how i set my course up, so very confused that it doesn't work for me. Any unanswered questions have not been taken into account of the final score. My course is set up with 30 questions, i have only answered 18 of them before the timer runs out it gives my over passing rate from the 18 questions and it shows i passed, where as it should show i've failed as the pass rate is set up at 80%. The overall score should be marked out of 300 points with a passing rate of 240 points.
This occurs in preview mode, as well as when it is published online.
It's working for me as expected. SL2 I set up 5 questions with a quiz timer for 1 minute. Answered the first two questions correctly - let the timer count down - Time exceeded message displayed then results show fail
Looks like you've tried to share the published file - can you share your .story file the one you open in Storyline so we can take a look at how it's setup and see what the problem may be.
I'm glad you experienced the same issue as i did and that it wasn't myself who had done something wrong. Hopefully someone else will be familiar with this issue and be able to help out.
As I said above, I'm not sure this is an issue - it may be the expected behaviour that it is only calculating passing score for the number of the questions answered. If you don't get a response on the forum you may want to log a ticket with support just to confirm what should be happening.
Hi Diana! Thanks for also opening a case, and I see Eloisa recently requested a copy of your file. I'll make a note in your case for Eloisa to also check on this issue.
Let us know if you need any help sending your file over!
Updates gratefully received on this issue. I was about to set up the same thing but came across this post. looks like it won't work the way I'd want it to at the moment.
This conversation is a bit dated and the users were using Storyline 2.
If you're running into a similar issue, then with your permission, I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
Hi, I am using SL 360 and have the same problem with a timed test. If the test times out the result is out of the questions taken not the total questions. Was there ever any resolution to this problem.
I wanted to update this discussion to share that we aren't seeing this bug, unattempted questions in question banks are not included in the computation for cumulative score when timer expires in a timed quiz, in our latest version of Storyline 360 (Build 3.61.27106.0).
If others are running into this bug, please make sure you're using the latest version of Storyline 360. You can reach our team in this discussion or privately in a support case.

Hi Amy
according to this tutorial - this is what happens when the time is exceeded

Hi Wendy,
Thank you for your response.
I had a look at the tutorial you sent.

See Peek video
Can you share your .story file or even just the quiz section.
Are you starting the timer from first question slide or first slide?
Hi,
I am starting from first question and it doesn't seem to play game with me.
Please find attached the quiz.
Thanks,
Hi Amy
just linking this post to your other one.

Hi Wendy,
Apologies, please find attached.

Hi Amy
I don't use the timer so I can't speak to whether this behaviour is normal or not.
I stopped short of answering all the questions when the timer ran out.
The total number of points possible is 300, the passing score is 80% of 300 which is 240 only if the user completes all 30 questions.
If they only complete a portion of them when the time exceeded message displays that is what is being recorded
eg If they only complete 28 of the 30 questions, the pass mark is being based on 28 x 8 = 224 so there are two questions that are not being counted.
Hopefully a staff member can chime in to say if this is expected behaviour or not.
Hi Wendy,
Thank you so much for your help.

Hey Amy,
Thanks for reaching out to our support team.
I thought it should work by the total as well, but my testing found the same thing as Wendy.
I was going to submit it for you to have one of the support engineers take a look and you beat me to it :)
I'm going to be following along as well.
Has there been a fix for this reported problem? I am experiencing the same error and need a solution ASAP. SL 360; 3.27.18822.0

Hi Ward,
Thanks for contacting our support team as well.
I see that Jopney is working with you directly. I'll add this conversation to the report that was shared with our team as well.
