Unable to change slide numbering? [Resolved]

Oct 04, 2022

Hello! I've been digging around and been unable to find a solution to this. I'm unable to change the numbers on my slides.

Selecting "Reset from Story" in the Player Menu doesn't do anything (in fact, it actually just resets it to the numerical ordering and entirely ignores the order I have them in on the scene), which seems to be the suggested solution based on other posts. Changing the order of the slides doesn't change their order, like it apparently should? My supervisor runs into this same issue, and we both thought that this was how Storyline worked until we noticed that this wasn't apparently the case based on other people's posts while poking around for other things.

Is there something we're doing wrong? Should the numbers reset to be in numerical order by default? (My slide previews are blurred for confidentiality sake in my screenshot.)

Slide order is determined by the triggers that connect them. Jump to slide "Click to Advance" will always jump to the same slide, no matter what its number is. Unless, of course, you are using "Jump to next slide" To change the order, change the triggers.

To change the numbers, go to the story View, and drag the slides. If you drag a slide up under another slide and turn it loose when you see the blue arrow, it will renumber to the number following the slide above it. If you are using "Jump to Next", it will also place itself right after that slide. If not, it will go back to its rightful position with a new number. (IMO, a good argument against using "Jump to next".)

Reset from story changes only the menu, not the slides.
