Update-now cannot open project due to "text issue"

I opened SL3 after months and was asked if I want to update. I clicked yes. After updating and running it I rebooted the laptop. Launched SL3 again and created a new project, also importing an older project (from last year) into this new project. Saved and closed the project. Later tried to open it again and was barred with a message about text. This is devastating as spent all day on this project for a demo and cannot get into it.
