Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with TalentLMS?
Currently, we are looking to move to a LMS that has more flexibility and options. Most of the popular LMS packages have the same features as TalentLMS but seem to cost twice as much. TalentLMS pricing is very attractive but... sometimes you get what you pay for.
I have worked in over 30 LMSs and Talent is my second favorite (with Schoology being the first). Talent is easy to use, has great gamification options and everything else I look for.
Hi Rick, I just wanted to let you know that when you respond to comments via email, your email signature is automatically included. You can click the link to edit your previous responses and remove your contact info, if you like!
And hopefully you'll continue to get some helpful feedback on Talent LMS!
We use TalentLMS. It does have a pretty fantastic price for the feature set. One thing to note. The portal is not highly customizable without quite a bit of coding knowledge. Epignosis does eFront and TalentLMS.
I've currently set up a free account. Which has some limitations. One of those is the use of Actions. Do you use them and have you found them to be beneficial? Do you have any experience with the API?
Actions are good for things like dripping weekly content to the users and emailing specific people either updates, or completion notices. Super easy to setup. We are just starting to dig in to the API as we started with the wordpress integration to try and get around the limitations. We found the wordpress integration is also limited in that it only displays the LMS data in one way and all of it. You cannot adjust or remove things you do not want to see. This means we have to use the API to call exactly what we would like to display. This is the ONLY thing we found difficult with TalentLMS. It meets every other requirement and is extremely robust for an off the shelf LMS. Hope this helps!
I agree on the API. It's taken me a little while to figure it out and the documentation leaves a lot to be desired (in my case I don't have PHP available so all of that would have to be converted).
Sorry to keep bugging you but have you ever had an instance where you gave a pre test that allows the user to skip a course if passed? Could that be controlled through Actions?
You can setup an action that will automatically give access to a new course once someone passes or completes a pretest course. There is also an action that lets you **On course X completion, with a score between K and L, assign course(s) **. Not exactly what you are asking to do but I imagine you could find a way based on how you assign the courses.
If you install the Chrome app "Postman", you can get code snippets for each API call in most languages you would need. I attached a screenshot for reference. Here is a guide to get you started.
Thanks for all the replies. I did end up going with TalentLMS. Pretty much all LMS's at a certain level offer the same services. For my situation it came down to how much control I wanted to have and ease of use for the end user. TalentLMS has almost every feature you could want. However, this can lead to having too many choices. For me...I like fine tuning everything so I don't really need the vendor s involvement much. The price is phenomenal for what you get.
TalentLMS has been a fun LMS to work with so far but it does require you to think outside the box and come up with a strategy to fit your situation. There are a couple of things I'd change about it like I wish they had better forums similar to this forum or making what they call Actions work exactly the way I want them to. Better API documentation and something other than PHP would be nice too! Overall I'm happy with it so far!
Your requirement caught my eye and thought to get in touch with you to explore synergies of working together.
We eNyota learning (http://enyotalearning.com/) have our proprietary LMS which is a 100% cloud based system developed with a mobile first approach to allow users access the LMS and take training anytime, anywhere and on any device or platform.
You can surely host your courses which you are developing in Rise. I would love to connect with you and discuss in detail.
If you could share your email id i will be able to provide you a trial link to our LMS and also schedule a demo for you to walk through the product & it's features.
Hi Rick, just found this useful post and hope you can help me out. I am using Talent LMS as I find it easy to work with. Use SL3. The only thing is video. Can't get them working. They work OK outside the LMS but when I upload as Scorm 1.2 they will not start in the LMS. Have you any idea what is going wrong? Highly appreciated and kind regards!
This is an old thread, but hopefully some people using TalentLMS are still around. :-D
I'm having an issue with the TalentLMS app and how the mobile player is displayed. The TalentLMS UX covers up the bottom of the course/player, so you can't see the prev/next buttons. I've contacted them and they say it is a SCORM/Storyline issue.
I did test it on SCORM Cloud and it works. But SCORM Cloud displays like a browser, opening in a new window. The LMS's app doesn't look like a browser, it is embedded within the app.
I'm using the classic mobile player since I am using Storyline 3.
The issue only occurs in the LMS's app, all browsers work fine. You can scroll the player in the app to see the buttons, but it isn't obvious enough and then my course gets cut off.
I have an update. I looked through all of my courses and this is only affecting the ones published after I upgraded to the latest build (March 5, 2019 - Build 3.6.18134.0). I am looking for a way to revert back to the previous build (August 16, 2018 - Build 3.5.16548.0) to test my theory.
Amanda were you able to fix the problem with Articulate support rolling back to the previous build? I have a client that is having a similar problem. We have sold this course about a dozen times in the last year and have not had any problems with it playing full screen with other LMSs.
This client uses TalentLMS and reports this happening:
"When I start the course the viewing area on the browser screen is smaller than the size of the course content. I have to scroll right and down to see all of the content. I have plenty of white space around the window that should allow a full view of the course."
Please let me know if changing to a previous build fixed the problem for you.
Um...this may not really be the answer but I'll mention it anyway!
So SL let's you specify a course player size on the design tab and when you upload to TalentLMS you can also specify a size. I've played with that to get my entire course into one window without having to deal with scrolling bars.

Hi Rick,
Do you mean Talentsoft Learning (called e-doceo atime ago) ?
Damien
Thank you for your input. So far it seems to have all the right features for the right price!
No. www.talentlms.com although they do have some association with eFront.

I think that is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. I'll check out Postman and see what I can figure out about the API!
Hi Rick- We offer a cost competitive LMS with great features...check it out here.
I'd be happy to talk to you if you'd like.
Hi Jeff,
I am in search of a LMS that will be hosting the courses I produced in Rise. Can we chat? I think you will get my email address from this message.

But what's the problem with a budget option if it does the job? I find for my needs that TalentLMS has been nothing but solid.

Hi All,
Also looking at TalentLMS - I wanted to find out more about the reporting and the dashboard for the learner.
1. What type of reports can you get? And are you able to export reports?
2. What does the Dashboard look like in terms of users wanting to track their own performance?
Thanks,
Penny
