Accessibility and text synhcronisation problems with Helperbird

Hello,

I'm writing to you because after running several tests and publishing my exports on my web server and LMS, I realize that my module doesn't synchronize with the Helperbird extension.

I have an accessible text zone that is supposed to display a scroll bar if the text is enlarged. The scroll bar doesn't appear, so the text isn't fully legible.

To enlarge the text, display the scroll bar and synchronize with helperbird, I have to deactivate the accessible text option in Storyline's accessibility settings, then reactivate it. At that point, the scroll bar appears, but other helperbird options such as changing font families disappear.

What's more, when I click on next to move on to the next slide, the helperbird settings disappear again.

Finally, the options to increase the width of the text area or the height don't work. The text appears cut off.

Have you encountered this problem before, and can you help me?

  • Hi, I'm not sure if you've dug into the HTML behind Storyline, but it's not like any other webpage really. I'd guess the priority was on the WYSIWYG authoring environment and published content matching as closely as possible. That's why you see a lot of content rendered as SVG.

My experiments with attempting to add a custom stylesheet to the course haven't been successful. As you say, some containers crop the text. I gave up in the end.

I would think the Storyline published content is not compatible with that plugin for those reasons, unless the plugin allows you to change several other properties such as overflow on containers?

I think you would have more luck with Rise content, as it is built on the HTML, CSS that is commonly seen on websites.
