Adding Text to Speech to a Screen Recording

Hello Everyone,

I have been working on some screen recordings in Storyline, where I then add voiceover with the Text-to-Speech feature. For almost all of the videos I have created, it seems that the text-to-speech and video do not align with their speeds. To prevent this, I even created a voice memo of the text-to-speech and then created my screen recording while listening to the voice memo to get the timing correct, but it seems that when the video is imported and the text-to-speech is added, it does not line up. Does anyone have any best practices or tips for this? I have been adding the "silence" feature when needed, but sometimes it makes the overall video clunky. Any feedback is appreciated!

  • Hi Cailyn,

    Thanks for reaching out!

The best way to get your audio to line up with the video is to record your voiceover while the screen recording is taking place. You can enable the microphone in the screen recording window, shown here:

If you prefer to add voiceover after making the screen recordings, try recording yourself speaking while watching screen recordings to make sure that the speaking points in the video line up with the audio.
