Audio not playing on slide launch

Hello,

I have recently finished a Storyline 360 course development and when I put it into my LMS, Docebo, the first slide plays almost entirely before the audio starts. Since that slide auto-advances, it cuts off the audio and goes to the next slide.

This replicates for the first slide in each scene.

What can I do to stop this from happening? I have created a similar ticket to this with Docebo, but they're saying they don't replicate it. At our office, we replicate this on multiple systems.

This is not specifically happening on the Articulate Review link, but when testing this the SME said that she is experiencing it when she pauses the content to comment and when she selects play to begin the content again, the video starts in advance of the audio, and then it advances before she hears all the audio.

I am assuming this is related to the size of the file... It's 297 MB. Thank you for your help.

  • Hi Emily,

I have a similar experience. I have an opening slide on some of my projects which has an animated video on one track and music on another track. Both are to start at the beginning of the timeline. When I preview the individual slide, they both start at the beginning. When previewing the entire project, the video begins to play at the beginning but the accompanying music on a separate track may not start until 15 seconds or more later.

My file size is bigger than yours. My courses are incorporating screen recordings of software processes for training. This phenomena has happened on multiple courses that use the same initial slide setup and also may be larger due to screen recordings for software training.

Same- this is a software training with lots of screenshots (record my screen). Have you figured out how to make this stop happening?

  • It would be easier to add the audio into the video. The video will play once it has finished buffering so it is likely the two will be out of sync.

The section header where I'm having this issue isn't a video.

  • It is unlikely to be ralated to the size f the file, storyline only loads three slides ahead. Are you trying to prevent the black play button from showing at the beginning of the course?

No, I was hoping that I could have it be on the initial load longer so that more would load so they wouldn't have the audio take longer to play. I republished to review with the audio settings changed to adaptive instead of static and that didn't fix it.

  • This has also been happening in courses we are working on, we have had a few updates since starting recent courses and wondering if there has been a glitch, also we have shared the file across countries (our partners in India started and we finished the course in US)...not sure if anyone has had either of those scenarios as well. Additionally, we have been using Localization and had all kinds of issues with the wrong languages randomly playing etc.

      Hello HilaryRainbo167

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this audio issue and that Articulate Localization isn't behaving as expected. I know that's frustrating. I've opened a support case on your behalf so we can take a closer look at your setup and learn more about the Localization issues that you mentioned. Our team will be in touch via email shortly. You're in excellent hands!

I have a very straight forward project - no special triggers, single-layer slides where the user advances the slide with the built-in "Next" button.  Some slides have videos on them with audio tracks, some slides have simple narration tracks. Seemingly randomly, slides will play without audio. If you navigate back to the previous slide and then click back to the "problem" slide, audio will play. This has happened on several projects recently. I've logged this as a case and included my project file, and been told there's nothing wrong with my project and it plays fine. But this continues to happen to people viewing in Review 360.

Yes, this is exactly what we're experiencing. It works when you are past the slide and return to it, playing as expected. I've made tickets with Articulate and with Docebo. Docebo support says it's not them and they can't replicate it in any of our user accounts. The learners are frustrated and I'm not sure how to fix it.

        Hi Emily02,

So sorry to hear that you've been struggling with audio playback in Storyline!

I see that you've shared your affected project file privately through a support case. It looks like my teammate Phil reached out with feedback on his testing on 02/11/26. It's possible that the email slipped by or was diverted to a SPAM folder. I've just resent it again, for your reference.

Also, I've seen similar issues resolved by publishing from a local drive. If your .story file is hosted on a network drive, try moving it to your local hard drive and republishing to see if that improves the audio playback.

We can continue the conversation through your case!

      Hey JamesKalhorn,

Sorry to hear you were having trouble with audio playback in Storyline.

I noticed that you've been working with my colleague Enelluar through a support case. It sounds like eliminating a network drive from your workflow has resolved this issue. Awesome!

If you have any follow-up questions, feel free to reconnect with Enelluar through your case.
