Audio not working for HTML5 output in Chrome using Storyline 360
Hi all,
Very recently switched over to Storyline 360 and I am having issues with audio playback in Chrome. For some slides, audio does not play and I need to move the seekbar back to the start of the slide to get it to work.
Publishing the exact same project using Storyline 3 causes no issues and audio plays perfectly.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Cheers, Lloyd

Hi Gerry,
What version of Storyline are you using? Could you share a copy of your .story file so that we can take a look?

thanks

Any updates on this issue as audio is not working for Chrome 66. I am using Storyline 2.
Hi Gerry,
Absolutely - you can share privately with our Support Engineers here.
Ravindra,
Our team is still working on an update for Storyline 2, but we'll let you know as soon as it's ready.

I am a long-time Storyline user (thank you - I love the product and the support!), but am also having audio issues when publishing to my LMS.
This is my first project using Storyline 360 (fully updated, but not sure how to find version number) and am working locally.
Publishing to HTML with Flash fallback.
I never experienced this issue with Storyline 2.
- Operating System: Windows 10
- Chrome: Audio randomly does not play. Sometimes restarting or using the scrub bar will cause audio to play. Video will not play at all.
- IE 11: Audio randomly does not play. Sometimes restarting or using the scrub bar will cause audio to play. Video will not play at all.
- Firefox: Takes a while to load but audio and video work just fine. Our organization only supports IE 11.
- Only one slide has video.
- Most slides have one audio clip.
Plays fine when published to:
- Articulate 360
- CD format
- Published to LMS (preview)
LMS: Taleo Learn
I am submitting to the support team as that seems to be the general consensus and will follow up with a support number when I get one.

Hi Glenda, I'm curious to know if you had anyone else on your team test from their computer? I had the same audio/video issues in Chrome and found that it was only happening on my machine (the same machine used to develop the course). I use a Mac computer with Parallels installed and Windows 10.
I've actually been using a different (Windows machine) with Storyline 360 installed because it doesn't have the latest version of SL360 installed. No audio/video issues when I preview/publish from there.

I did not have anyone else try. Will do that - thanks. I also just finished publishing to Flash with HTML fallback and the issue is resolved. Support suggested that I try to publish it with quality set to "Standard". Will try that also.

My issue with playback from 360 publishing has been resolved since I last updated my SL 360 software yesterday. I ran the update and published again, and it's working fine now. The latest updates to SL360 resolved the audio issue in Chrome.
Perfect. Thanks for the update Glenda :)

I have the same problem. Working in Mac / Parallels - I'm saving as html5 in Storyline, adding seamless audio in Notepad, then I'm able to hear the audio with no problem. I upload to AWS, and the audio is fine. Once I add to Canvas, I can no longer hear the audio.
Not sure if it's a Mac / Parallels issue, or a Chrome issue? I've posted on a couple of these threads, but haven't found a solution.

I am using Articulate storyline2. In the published HTML5 output audio is working fine with IE and Chrome with Windows7. But in Windows 10 using IE audio is working fine, but in Chrome audio is not working.
Could you pls suggest possible solutions.
Hi Parameswari,
Do you know what version of Chrome you're using? Also, when you mention the audio is not working do you just not hear it playing back at all? Depending on your version of Chrome in each environment it could be the changes they implemented (and have slightly rolled back) detailed here. You'll want to update to the latest Storyline 2 Update and republish your Storyline content.
Let me know if you need anything else!

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with courses that have been published that were once working, but are not working now. I'm just concerned that I have 100's of courses out there before this Chrome change was rolled out. I don't have time to test them all. Just looking for some confirmation that it won't affect the old courses created in Storyline 1, Storyline 2, or even SL360 that were published a while ago.
Hi Megan,
It'll depend on the version of Chrome your learners are viewing the course in, and if they're viewing the HTML5 output or Flash...but I'd say to be safe, you'd want to publish your courses with the latest update to take advantage of that and ensure your learners have audio.
You can read a bit more about the changes Chrome has implemented (including the rollback of some of the audio changes) in our article here and you'll also find links to update your courses created in Storyline 2, Storyline 3 and Storyline 360 by installing the latest version of each and republishing.
