It is a good idea to test your courses on a phone. Is it an ideal user experience? Absolutely not. Which is why it's a good reason to see what the users experience.
As mentioned previously some interactions don't work the same way (hover states for instance). But nothing that was a problem to fix.
I now test my courses on my iphone when I check how a screen reader would handle my course.
