Can I delete a Base Layer in Storyline, but keep the secondary layer?
Hi all. I am building a tool using Storyline. I have slides with multiple layers. I have come to the conclusion that I need to delete the base layers on these slides, and instead use the secondary layer I created as the new base layer.
Basically, I need to simplify the tool I am creating, and the secondary layers are what I need to appear first when a user visits these slides.
I cannot find any way to delete the base layer and use my secondary layer as the new base layer. I have tried to copy/paste everything from the secondary layer onto the first layer, but it's messy and not a viable option.
Thank you!

You can't delete the base layer.
You could delete everything on the base layer, and add a trigger that shows the "secondary "layer when the timeline of the slide starts.
If that secondary layer contains multiple buttons that access the other layers (like a tabs interaction), then you'll have to adjust Slide Layer Properties and perhaps use additional triggers to ensure that opening a new layer doesn't hide that "secondary" layer but does hide other upper layers.
It's up to you whether or not that's a better option than copying and pasting items from the secondary layer to the actual base.

Thank you for the detailed reply, Judy! I have gone ahead with the option to show the secondary layer when the timeline begins on that slide. It seems to be the best workaround.
I appreciate your time and help! Thank you so much.

The bummer about just copying and pasting stuff from the secondary layer onto the base layer is that it doesn't 'remember' the location on the timeline.
