Can you format audio to play automatically in Rise 360?
Hello!
I am new to Rise360, and have an audio file that I want to play automatically when a section is clicked on, is that possible?
Thanks!

Hi Amy,
There is no auto-play of audio in Rise 360. A lot of browsers don't allow auto-play anyway, and as an accessibility best practice it's better to give learners control over any audio/video!

I have played with a work-around in our environment using our media storage platform, Panopto. In my testing, I've uploaded audio files to Panopto so I can get an embed code for the audio. In the player settings for Panopto, it has an auto-play option. So when the code is added to a block, it will play automatically. I've also tested completely hiding the player by setting the size of the player to 0 wide x 0 high. This allows the audio to play automatically when a user enters the block without showing player controls.
I would imagine there might be options to do this with other media storage platforms as well.

Hi
Is this workaround still working for you? How did you manage to set the size of the player. We don't have Panopto so I have tried a similar workaround by uploading a video to Vimeo. the video is only 400px high as I still want to show audio controls to allow the learner to play/pause, but Rise creates a wrapper that is more like 1080px high and every time I try to change the settings in the embed code, Rise removes the part of the code that deals with height. It is absolutely disgusting that Articulate has, once again shown no respect for the creativity or ingenuity of their customer base by restricting what we can do. We couldn't possibly come up with scenarios where we want the audio to start automatically but still give the learner the ability to pause it for accessibility:
" No you mischievous little child you will not be allowed to set audio or video to play automatically with native controls. You might do something naughty.
We will force you to find expensive and time consuming workarounds instead and even then it will be almost impossible to do get audio to play automatically because you can't be trusted with such power......"If I know that Panopto works, I might give it a shot. I've tried SoundCloud and a few other audio streaming platforms, but can't get it to work.
Between this and the farce that is the inability to combine quiz scores, I'm losing all patience with a company that totally ignores its customers.

The Panopto solution still works for us for where a default Rise player is not an option, but an embed code is an option. In Panopto, when you create the embed code, you can set the width and height of the player as well as setting things like autoplay and showing player controls. I've found that 50 pixels is as small as the player can be made in order to show the player controls properly. It can be set to 0x0 and set to autoplay in order to play without controls and to autoplay when a user hits that page.
The one thing I don't like is the less slick look of the Panopto player vs the Rise player. Our team is moving toward all trainings in Storyline instead of Rise. I like the simplicity of Rise, but some of the shortcomings and lack of updates to certain features is frustrating.
