CC Not appearing

I created my presentation.  I am adding the CCs as directed HERE.

Before I continue adding the CC info to all 30 slides, I want to make sure it's actually working.  And it didn't.  I created the video, and made sure the .vtt file that was created along with it are both in the same folder, yet the CC isn't showing up.

Am I missing something?

  • Just to confirm, when you publish or preview the course, you do not see the CC button on the Player at the bottom of the slide?

Correct. I don't even see the option/button to turn it off/on.
If I right click below the player progress bar there is an option for CC, but other than that, nothing.

  • You would need to share the .story file for us to be able to check it. Before you do, you might want to make sure you have the .vtt captions file in the right place for each slide in the course, whether on video or audio files. If the mp4 includes both audio and video, you can right click on the mp4 in the timeline and choose Accessibility to check (Video tools). If the audio file is separate from the video file, the caption should be on the audio file in the timeline (Audio tools Accessibility as shown in Captions file image). You also need to make sure Captions is checked in Player Controls (as shown in Player controls image).

  • Here is where I'm at.  Now it isn't able to publish my presentation/story.  It gets to the end and I get an error.
When I attempt to publish the story, it shows I have accessibility issues.  for now, I'm going to solve those as I can HOPING that they solve the greater issue.

      Hello CharlesNorris-b,

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing trouble.

The pop-up you’re seeing is a reminder to address accessibility issues before publishing. You can click Review to open the accessibility checker floating pane.

It looks like there may be additional issues beyond accessibility that are preventing the course from being published. We’d be happy to help identify them. As RonPrice and AprilDurrence-1 mentioned, the best way to do that would be to review your Storyline file (*.story).

If you’re open to it, feel free to share the project here or privately through a support case. We’ll delete the file once we’re done testing.

I ended up having to save the file using a different name and delete every previous version, and then rename the "new file".  I fixed many of the accessibility "issues"

I added CC to the scenes using the CC Editor, but when I Publish it to Video, the CCs don't show up and I don't see the CC button to turn them on/off in the player.  When I preview the presentation, I see the CCs for each scene AND the CC button to turn them on/off.
