Changing the background color in Rise
Hello, our customer would like us to change the color of the background from white to a different color. How can we do that in Rise? Thank you.
Good news, everyone! You can now customize your blocks with distinctive color and image backgrounds using enhanced block settings! Check out the new feature, and let us know what you think!

This should really be a standard feature of Rise, along with the ability to format text/bullet points etc with more control.
Hello Kristyna and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you would like to accomplish.
You can change the background of your Rise Blocks within your course via Edit > Settings.
Changing the overall background is an idea I'm going to share with my team on your behalf.

Hello Leslie, thank you for the info. i would like to change the overall background color so thank you for taking it up to your colleagues. The reason from the customer is following: "we are also used to the white backgrounds, but if I have to look at a pc the whole day it is more relaxing for the eyes to have an off white of light grey background. But maybe this gives contrast problems for some people. (maybe as an option, change background colour, some sites a night modus)." Thanks.

+2 for global background coloring
Hi Martin! Thanks for checking in. Rise 360 has a white background by default, but you can change the background of individual blocks. I'll let our team know you need a global background color setting!

Hi Alyssa,
I really feel this should be done overall, The cover of the course (with the detail on what is in it) looks so boring on white and with no imagery available. Please can the team look into this?
Thank you :-)

Agreed. When setting up the Course Theme, and extra feature should be added where a designer can change the overall page background colour globally. I mean you can always create new block templates, but that is onerous.

Hi Jacob - you're right. Process blocks have a different type of container to handle the animation of each step, so the background for that block is actually completely covered by the interaction itself. Sorry for the confusion there!
I've tagged this discussion for a follow up if we make any changes to how the process block background looks.

I agree with this request.
I often find myself having to manually change the background of each and every block to match the branding requirements in my assignments. And if the background is dark, I also end up having to change the font color in each block as well.
That's a lot of extra work. I think it would spare users a lot of time if we could have select "Default background color" and "Default text color".
And the default background color would preferably affect the top & bottom bar of each chapter, because right now it looks kind of janky when we try to brand something in Rise, and it just cuts off to the default white.
I read in the automated email sent with feature requests that "we estimate the value it could bring to our products.". Wouldn't you agree that being able to say something in the lines of "Match your company branding requirements 100%" is great value added to the USP list for such a minor feature?Hi Johannes! Thanks for chiming in and sharing your thoughts here. We don't have any updates on this request yet, but we're still tracking requests for the ability to change the background color in Rise courses.
I'll share your feedback with our team! I'll update you all here if we make any changes that help!

I too agree with this request. Please give us the ability to change the global background color.

Adding this as a request. The inability to change the background is very poor for accessibility reasons. I've seen many of these threads where users have been requesting seemingly simple developments for years - I wonder if Rise is actually being developed?

Just weighing in, almost 3 years after the original request, in order to keep this feature request at top-of-mind for the Articulate folks.
I love having the ability to change the background color of my trainings in Rise, as it gives each training a slight, subtly different feel.
But having to go through and update each individual block every single time is such a pain. It seems like it should be easy enough to have a global default for a course that can be set to something other than white, and then people can change individual block backgrounds as it works now.
Basically, instead of hard-coding the default background as #FFFFFF, just have a field in the settings section that allows us to change that. If you really want to get fancy, include a radio button option for "Apply to all blocks now" and "Apply only to new blocks going forward". This way people could build different sections of their training with different background colors if they wanted, very easily.
Thanks!
