Checkboxes across a Scene

Hello,

My team is using Storyline360 as an assessment tool for EMS continuing education and I'm running into an issue with my design I hope we can solve.

We're creating scenarios for learners to test out their knowledge at the end of the course, and one of the ideas I would like to incorporate into the scenario is a checklist to be used as a user guide. It would be as if they had a clipboard with them during the exercise and as they complete certain tasks they can check it off. It's a tool purely for the user to keep track of their actions and not in any way part of the back-end assessment. I built the checklist as a slide layer that can be activated by hitting the icon in the bottom right corner, and closed by hitting the X that appears. This was templated in so every new slide can have this feature built into it. Alas, I just realized my mistake. The checklist resets with each new slide and isn't carried over as the narrative progresses. This completely undermines the utility of the tool.

Is there a way to have a checklist that exists across the whole scenario and not a separate instance for each slide?

Thanks!

One option is to create the checklist on its own slide and then display it in a lightbox from with the content slides.

  • Michael's solution is definitely the easiest.

Another option is to use T/F variables to track which boxes are checked, and use triggers on the master layer that select the appropriate boxes based on which variables are True.

This is demonstrated in the attached file.

  • Thank you all so much! I will try the lightbox first and the T/F method if after if it doesn't work out.
