Closed Caption issues in Preview Mode
Hi mdhahm!
Sorry to hear Closed Captions from Storyline are not playing back as expected!
If the behavior only occurs sporadically, first confirm you're .story file is stored on your local hard drive. Authoring directly off of a network or shared drive may introduce erratic behavior.
If the issue pops up every time you preview the file, it's possible something else is getting in the way within the project itself. Have you deleted or replaced any of the media after importing the captions? Storyline does not automatically re-link those elements. Also, if you’re using any Triggers that hide the Player controls, make sure they’re not hiding the CC button unintentionally.
If you're still having trouble, it would be helpful to see a copy of the .story file for testing. Do you mind uploading that here in the discussion or privately through a support case?

Thanks Steven,
I am now running & saving the Storyline files to my hard drive, which does make a little difference.
One other thing I have tried is going into "Manage Captions", deleting a letter of text in the Closed Captions Editor & then adding back that same letter, and saving it again. This seems to fix both issues of the CC button appearing in the player & the CC text appearing in Preview mode.
I suspect I could use more RAM on my computer (only 16GB) and my other MS applications like MS Teams & MS Edge browser are using up a lot of the RAM & CPU usage as well.

Hi mdhahm!
Thanks for following up and sharing the steps that worked for you!
Your 16GB should be more than enough, as Storyline requires a minimum of 2GB of ram. However, this is also dependent on other applications that might be running too, as you said.
If you run into this setback again, please let us know!
