Copying States from one picture to another
Hi there!
This is my first post, and I am very new to Storyline, but it looks like an exciting and different way of doing things!
My question may already be out there, but after an hour of searching, I thought I should ask.
Can you copy states from one picture to another? For example, I have 5 pictures which I want to have 3 states. Normal (which is normal), visited (which is greyed out) and active (which is increased contrast and brightness). Rather than having to set these up for each individual picture, is there a way to copy the states over quickly?
Thanks!
Josh
Hi Josh and welcome to Heroes!
I'm glad your enjoying Storyline so far! There isn't a default way to copy the state onto multiple images or buttons. This does sound like a good feature request though!
If you need anything else, please let us know!

Hi Ashley and Josh,
I just wanted to throw something out here. Although it's true you can't select multiple images and copy states over, you can select the image that already has the desired states, then double-click the format painter, and single click sequentially on each picture that should have these same states. Apologies if I'm misinterpreting the question...but just in case I thought I'd post.

Rebecca,
Thank you!!!
This just saved me HOURS on a large project that I am working on.

Unfortunately, the format painter doesn't work if your states use any of the following formatting adjustments:
- Adjust brightness
- Adjust contrast
- Recolor
- Adjust size/dimensions
- Adjust position
- Change picture
- Change picture shape
Ashley, can these issues please be added to the long list of bug reports?

Agree with Rebecca this should achieve what you want. Thanks Rebecca and Phil! It sounds like that would accomplish what Josh wants, but if not - let us know Josh!

Thanks everyone! I'll give the format painter a go!

Hi there
Another way to accomplish that is to copy the picture that has the adjusted states and paste a new instance on the stage. Then I right click and select 'change picture'. The 'Format Picture' settings to each state will automatically apply to the new picture.

Thanks Mary-Lynne for the additional suggestion!
This thread is a bit older Duane, but glad it still assisted you.

What can I say....I'm a bit slow, but I eventually get there.
No worries Duane. ;-)
That's why we don't delete threads.
