Custom player features - problems??

Hi all - I'm running into a problem disabling the Storyline 3 player features for certain slides. The majority of the course module shows the built-in and a couple customized features with no problem. I'm trying to keep these disabled for the first several "front matter" slides since they are only introductory, and the player features actually distract at this point (in my opinion).

I've got the options set to "custom for the selected slides" for the affected slides (#1, 2, 3), but despite the setting toggles, the two customized features I have added (Previous Modules and Key Roles) continue to show - see the images.

Is there a way to block these two feature tabs from appearing on these front matter slides? Or are these "all or nothing" options?
