Does Articulate have any plans to make a Mac OS compatible version of Storyline?
Or any other products?

As a person who has organization management consulting experience as well as the LMS nuts and bolts, I'm looking at how much market share Articulate truly is missing out on with such a limited strategy. Although Apple integration may be considered an expensive outlay - to consider in this era that a Windows only or non native platform will prevail is in my opinion not sound economic strategy for business ROI - let alone the customers. For a start - just think of the majority of Mac users who actually dominate graphic capability software - i.e. the concentration of publishing, education sector courseware development, graphics, gaming, video, film and web design industries who proportionately favour MAC OS. The x platforms require disabling whats good for a digital designer. It's kind of like saying you'll stick only with "Myspace and not Facebook as well..." (oops).
Don't get me wrong. I appreciate Microsoft platform and products also. But if you are considering a sound business decision - you need to consider your large target market into corporations will have issues with allowing alternative OS usage by employees away from the IT environment - i.e. in the LMS or marketing, communications and business interfacing genre where most of digital courseware is developed.
So although it seems a good product, I'm back to Adobe which I can use on either.

Alternatively, if you are under an exclusive contract with Microsoft, perhaps you could consider integration into their office 365 product range?

I have been following this issue for almost five years and was surprised to finally see Articulate switch their official corporate positioning from "we don't discuss software development plans" to finally admitting that they have no intention to release a macOS version of Storyline. I know a couple of years ago they were looking for macOS development employees, maybe that didn't work out so well.
Anyways, for anyone complaining about the extra licensing of Parallels, you can use Oracle VirtualBox, it's free. I've been using that for about five years. It's a pain to reserve like 8 GB of your RAM for a virtual operating system of Windows 10, but it works well. I had it on a 2011 iMac (i7 + 16 GB RAM) and it was fine, and obviously still good with 2019 system.

It's all too late for me. I've ditched Articulate. It was terribly
expensive on an annual basis and the added hassle of not being Mac ready
made it a very unattractive option.Lilian Austin

Have just joined Articulate 360 for the 60-day free trial, but already I have felt extremely disappointed that there is no native Mac version for Storyline. In 2020 I would have expected that both PC and Mac versions were available.
Articulate 360 do you discount for Mac users giver there are other expenses to run in virtual world on a Mac?

+1 for a native Mac version, especially now the M1 has landed. From reading the numerous comments on here on many different threads it seems absolutely bonkers that a Mac version of SL hasn't been considered or added to the roadmap. Who at Articulate HQ hates Macs?

Hi everyone!
I agree with all your comments regarding the mac. It's absolutely absurd that there is no software for the Apple platform. I just signed up to a course on Articulate 360 before discovering this situation and I can't believe I have to go down a PC path. The whole reason I bought a Mac Mini was not to have to do this.
Please guys get onto this ASAP.

Since COVID I've been logging into the company VPN on my MacBook Pro and using Microsoft Remote Desktop to remote in to my office PC to use Storyline. I've gotten pretty used to it, but sure would be nice if I could run directly from a Mac!

I suspect their reluctance to make a version for the Mac is solely because, this would mean they have to develop a 64bit version. Which for whatever reason they have not done. Lack of 64 bit support causes many of us 'out of memory' and crashing issues. 64 bit has been out 20 years now, Articulate Storyline would get a performance increase if they did and it would set itself up for a Mac version.
Our company uses Macs and we are using Boot Camp Assistant. I recommend it, but we still need a 64 bit version for Windows and Mac.

Well, that would probably explain why Storyline was so much of a poop show lately with Oracle Virtualbox. I was getting severe freezing and crashing from simple things like going into the player menu / attachments section. Parallels seems to handle it better, but that ended up entailing a $150 / year license just for this bloody application. 😡

Please create a Mac Native program. Using this on Parallel is difficult and if Im able to I opt out of using SL, because of the extra steps.

I tried Parallels on my MacBook Pro and the experience was not good. It was slow and Storyline was slow when I used it. Additionally, my workplace was having to pay for two pieces of software. I found it was more cost effective in the log run to buy a Windows machine to run Storyline. I don't like Windows OS, but I can tolerate it while I use Storyline. I think Articulate would have more designers use the product if they developed a native Mac OS version.

Was your MacBook a current model with M1 or M2 ARM processor? When I tried
running it on my recent M1 Macbook it was very buggy and slow. I am now
running it on my old 2018 Macbook Pro (that was wiped and has a fresh
install of MacOS Ventura) and Storyline 360 actually runs quite smoothly on
Parallels (when Parallels is not having issues).I'll be curious how long Articulate will be able to keep telling people
that Storyline can be run on Macs. In 5 more years, will they just tell
people to find a 7-year old Mac or older to run it on? To quote Wikipedia:
"The Intel-based MacBook Pro is a discontinued line of Macintosh notebook
computers sold by Apple Inc. from 2006 to 2021".Lon

Another vote to port Storyline to Mac OS.

Thank you. We've actually recently decided to go with 360.

Hi Ryan
How is this working out for you on the Mac?
Regards Adam

Adam,
Parallels seems to be sufficient, although paying for an extra subscription just to use Storyline is an inconvenience. Parallels does give me issues from time to time and the shortcuts that work on PC don't always work on a Mac. All in all, it is okay, but an inconvenience.
