Embedding Vimeo video

When I use the embed code that I use for other platforms, Rise seems to ignore the settings of my code. for example, on my video, I remove logos and titles so the fact that Vimeo is the host melts seamlessly into the background. With Rise it not only creates a vimeo frame but ignores all the embed options that work in wordpress for example. Is this normal?

  • Hi Ashley,

thanks for the response and acknowledgement that something unusual is happening with the Vimeo embed. We have tried this in our LMS with the same result (attached screen grab). Is there any extra parameters we need to include in the embed code to make the Fullscreen icon visibe?  btw, the Full screen mode works fine in Rise. Can the Rise fix be applied to Storyline 360? - just a thought. Any timeline on the fix for Storyline 360?

  • Hi Greg,

It looked like you had the right information in the embed code, but I'd also be curious how this is working outside your LMS. Can you test it in SCORM Cloud as well?

No ETA on the fix, but I'll let you know as soon as it's ready!

  • Hi Ashley, good call. Vimeo Full screen worked fine in Scorm Cloud. So it must be something to do with our LMS. I will investigate.

    thanks for your help

  • No problem, Greg. Thanks for testing in SCORM Cloud! Feel free to keep us posted in case it's something that may help other users with a similar issue.

  • Hi everyone!  Just an update that we fixed an issue in Articulate Review where the fullscreen option wasn't being included for embedded videos in Storyline and Rise courses hosted in Review.

You don't have to do a thing, though!  The fix will apply to all of your Review content immediately.  Let us know how it works.  😀

  • I'm still encountering this issue. My embedded vimeo content can be full screened on Rise, but the option disappears once it is embedded in our LMS. Is there a fix coming soon? Unfortunately we won't be able to use Rise in our workflow if this will not be resolved soon.

      Hi Todd,

From what Greg said above, it sounds like this option is working in SCORM Cloud, which means the issue is likely coming from your LMS and not Rise.

To be sure, you could try testing it yourself in SCORM Cloud. Here's an article that walks you through how to do that.

If you can confirm that it works correctly on SCORM Cloud, then the problem is coming from the LMS and you'll need to talk to your provider.

If you see the same issue on SCORM Cloud, then the problem is likely coming from the course itself. If that's the case, please reach out to our support team.

In the meantime, if there's anything else I can do to help, please let me know!

  • Thanks Allison! I have confirmed it is the LMS and will reach out to them to find a resolution.

  • Hi Team -

Old thread here, but jumping in. I'm still experiencing this issue in Rise 360 today. I've triple checked all of the embed settings in Vimeo - for example, I don't want there to be any interaction on the video when it's embedded (share, like, watch later), and I've customized label color, logo, etc. However, none of these items come through when I export the Rise package and upload to our platform - Volute. The fullscreen option also is removed from these videos.

    Thanks for any updates!

So sorry you are experiencing this with your LMS. I would suggest that you troubleshoot your file in SCORM Cloud. Here's an article with steps on how to do this.

If your course works properly in SCORM Cloud but not in your LMS, please open a support case with Volute, and share your SCORM Cloud findings with them to troubleshoot the issue.

If the same behavior is present when you test in SCORM Cloud, then the problem is likely coming from the course. If this is what's happening, please open a case with us here.

  • I have a question about the view count on an embedded video - I believe I read that if the play button is clicked on an embedded video, that it counts as a view (the video is on Vimeo). Can anyone confirm?

Hi Thameena! Rise does not have a view count for videos. If you're referring to the Vimeo view count, yes it will be counted once the play button is clicked. I got the information from this Vimeo link.
