Error Message when upload published Rise file to SuccessFactors LMS

Has anyone been able to import a published Rise SCORM 1.2 to SuccessFactors LMS?

I have created a Rise eLearning module, published it for LMS (SCORM 1.2) and attempted to import the .zip to Successfactors LMS. However, I keep getting this error: An error was detected: getzipFile(filename, uploadID,addXMLFilesOnly) error occured while retrieving the file from db. I have researched on SuccessFactors Help portal and they recommend removing the </IOM> from the manifest file and re-zipping. However, I cannot find any </IOM> reference in the manifest file.

  • Hi Dana,

Thanks for your message. We didn't make any changes to Rise in 2019 that would have caused this to happen, and that's why this issue has been so difficult for us and the SuccessFactors team to nail down. It wasn't until we began working closely with affected customers that we realized a trend with network security software adding metadata to files downloaded from the web.

      Hi there,

We don't have an update at this time. You may want to try publishing and uploading a new version of your content to your LMS from a different network, like a home or mobile network if you're using your business network. If that doesn't work, please reach out to us here, and we'll see if we can help further!

  • HI folks,

In our case we run into failed uploads with our translated French courses. That is, the English course works fine, but once we translate the course, we start to run into troubles.

Here are some fixes that have worked for us:

    • Remove accents from Rise course titles. e.g.,
Original: Québec : Traitement équitable des clients
Renamed: Quebec : Traitement equitable des clients
    • Remove accents from filenames of media items WITHIN the rise file (e.g. video, audio)
      Original: Résultats et attentes.mp4
      Renamed: Resultats et attentes.mp4
    • Shorten filenames for videos e.g.,
Original: Video to use in Rise with a long filename_1080p_2022-07-11.mp4
      Renamed: Video for Rise-2022-07-11.mp4

    Cheers,

    - Dino

  • Is this still not resolved?!? I am having issues uploading ZIP files created in Rise and this is the article suggested to me by my SuccessFactors support team.

Hi Erin, we are having the same issues and have also been signposted here. I am intrigued to know if you use a virtual desktop when exporting Rise? Apparently this may be an issue. We have not tested it yet though.

A workaround that worked for some modules, but not all, was replacing any uploaded videos that were in Rise to a Storyline block, as our LMS support team found that the videos and their automatically created thumbnails were causing problems. So this may help! They were also all Vyond videos, which may or may not be relevant!

To muddy the waters, a PDF also caused errors, so we just removed that and it uploaded for us. But theses workarounds haven't been successful with all modules, so we'll try exporting away from our virtual desktop next.

  • I will add to this as we experienced the same issue today. It turns out that one of the assets in the course had an incredibly long filename and that corrupted everything. Renaming the video to 1.mp4 and re--uploading to Rise, then republishing, solved the issue for us.

  • Hi all - recently started using SuccessFactors LMS for the first time and I can't believe this is still an issue as I too am experiencing this issue, I have followed troubleshooting in this post and nothing has worked:

    1. Unzip / rezip

    2. Publish on home pc

    3. tested on Scorm cloud and works fine

    4. Remove special characters / reduced file name size

The same course worked late July 2023 and after updates to it last week, which was replacing existing videos in the file with new ones, it will not import and I only receive a "Failed" message from SF LMS - no further details provided!

I have raised a support case with Articulate today, but the "workarounds" suggested by Articulate are ridiculous.. I have wasted hours trying to get this working and have not met deliverable because of this. I will also follow up with SF support to see if they can do anything.
