Exam - questions randomization

Hi community, I am trying to develop an Exam which at the start I thought it was an easy product but its becoming very very tricky.   Here is the scope:

I have 2 sets of questions.  One set are situational questions and the other set are fact questions.    Each set includes 20 questions and I need SL to only show/randomize 10. This means I need to have a 20 questions exam (out of a 40 questions bank).

Situational questionsFact question
I have been giving 20 and I need only 10 to be shown (randomly)I have been giving 20 and I need only 10 to be shown (randomly)
In the randomisation needs to be shown 1 situational, 1 fact until I reach the 20 total questions.

The tricky part here is that the client needs the Exam to always show 1 situational. 1 fact etc..

This where the whole logic problem started.

After trying different question bank combinations I ended up with the idea of have 20 question banks with 2 questions each and SL to randomize 1.

Here is the screenshot: you can see I have 1 Question bank that hosts all "Situational" questions, I´ve only included in the shuffle 2 and ask SL to include 1.

My scene setup looks like this: where you can see I have 1 Question back slide to show 1 Situational, next one will show 1 fact etc..

So far I thought this was the solution but I am finding out that when I select the "Retry exam" button that includes the following,  the randomisation doesn´t.  No matter how many times I retry,  SL always shows the same sequence of questions.

I would appreciate any help, support, advise on this type of examan and randomisation setup.

Thanks!

  • Hi PedroMendez , I checked with some examples and worked fine. I am attaching the Story file also. Please let me know if I misunderstood anything:
I created 2 QBs: Situational & facts. I created 5 Questions for both and included only four Question one from each QB. When i retry, it always picked different question.

Try this. Place all the questions in a single 'Draw Questions from Bank' slide. Arrange them in a specific order, alternating between Situational and Fact questions (e.g., Situational, Fact, Situational, Fact, etc.). Then, lock each Fact question to the one above it (the Situational question). This setup will ensure that the Situational questions randomize, followed by the corresponding Fact question below.

I've attached a sample with 20 questions for reference.

Thanks Nedim! This is great solution indeed and great logic behind!  Thanks for sharing!
