I haven't seen an option for this anywhere. Am I missing something?

Hi Adam, I can see where you're coming from, but on a mobile device, you don't see the tabs so it's not obvious or intuitive how to get back. You get to the end and then it's like cool now what, now I'm stuck. A large proportion of our audience isn't IT savvy at all, so we have to ensure the UX is very intuitive. I haven't played around with a window containing a course so I will look at that. Not sure how that affects the responsiveness. Also, it will reduce the screen real estate due to the padding of the moodle frame. Thanks

Just another perspective on the rationale for this. A lot of our users don't complete courses in a single pass, they need to be able to save their state and resume later (cmi.core.exit/cmi.exit == "suspend" + LMSFinish/Terminate). It's not intuitive that closing a browser window will save state. You wouldn't expect this if you were part way through an airline ticket purchase for example, why would you assume it for your eLearning? For state to be saved reliably across LMS and be resumable, up until completion we would need a way to exit and set the exit status to "suspend" and after completion an exit button that exited normally. Just lastly, please don't make the exit button close the window. It's not the prerogative of the scorm activity to do this, the LMS chooses whether a scorm package is loaded in a new window and can close or navigate away accordingly when it receives a call to LMSFinish/Terminate. Hi Adam, We use e-learning modules inside moodle LMS. From a user's perspective, how do they get back to the LMS once they have finished the module? All our current modules have a close button that closes that window and then they are back to the course page. Thanks

+1. I need this too. Our content opens in same window as LMS and the exit/finish command is needed to submit any data and then return the user to the LMS.

Cool. If we attach a close command to a button block, will that work for you folks?

We're working on some final touches and testing of this Exit button -- so I'll keep you posted here!

Steve, I'll be interested to hear how your idea works in the meantime, please let us know how it goes!

Oh so close...So I thought I had a workaround until the exit button arrives... I created a very raw "lesson". (see: https://rise.articulate.com/share/rGQCn5im1CLUJiTtlxwjosw31JR4KquS#/?_k=4eafa1) then use that URL in the button destination "link to web page" BUT I was not aware that changing the label text is a global attribute with Rise. Which brings up a different question regarding how Rise interacts with all courses. If I have clients requestion different labels...I would not be able to do so. Global settings make sense to me if it is within a particular grouping not across all Rise courses. So I quickly returned the labeling which affected the intent of "exit course" of course. ;) Did I miss something?

Hey Steve!

I have good news for you - Rise labels are specific to a course, not all Rise courses. Changes you make to text labels impact all your Rise courses that use the same label set.

So for example, if you edit the built-in English label set, every course that uses that label set with automatically get the same changes.

We recommend creating a new label set when you need to customize them so you won't accidentally change the labels in other Rise courses. (For reference only: Click here to download a complete list of default English text labels.)

  This "exit button" option isn't seamless since it opens up in another window/tab. This "lesson" needs to stay within the course to be effective. Can you create hidden lessons? Man...really need the exit button, excited for its arrival!

Ooo, I don't know if this meets your needs - but have you seen Zsolt's solution here for hiding lessons in the menu?

If that's still not what you need - we're targeting the end of this month for the Exit/Close button in Rise. I'll keep you posted!

Hi, all!

Great news! We pushed out the “Exit” button for Rise courses last night.

You can set buttons in block lessons to leave the course, or add an ever-present link when you export the course that lets learners return to an LMS.

I recorded a quick Peek video to show the two options for adding the Exit feature to your Rise course!
