Exporting all captions
I have created a Storyline360 file, and each slide has its own audio and closed captioning created within Articulate. I can export the closed captions for individuals slides but can I export all captions for the whole file?
Also when I publish to video the captions don't appear to come with it, and I then need to attach a caption file?
I am VERY new to this, and hope some can help.

Joe,
We too are having this same issue. Produce a Storyline project and trying to get closed captions/subtitles to go along w/ the MP4 we publish. We do produce things for employees for the LMS our employer uses. But we also need to publish these is MP4 for general consumption by the public who may not have access to our LMS.
I agree, Storyline's primary function is not to generate subtitles. However, in this day an age of ADA I would like to think that Articulate / Storyline would help us stay compliant without having to go to a 3rd party vendor to generate subtitles for one of the formats Storyline allows one to publish a project.
If this issue could be forwarded up for consideration it would be greatly appreciated.
Respectfully,
Chris
Hello Rise,
Since Storyline 360's primary function and usage isn't for generating subtitles, adding a batch converter that converts .SRT files to .VTT might be a bit tricky to implement. You are of course very welcome to raise this as a feature request to our product team here. I did however find this Youtube video which shows how you can convert .SRT files in bulk using a free third-party application called Subtitle Edit.
Hope this helps!

I would like to add a twist to this, what we need is a batch converter from .srt to vtt.
If that would be available in storyline would be great and to have a option in rise , directly when importing... that would be amazing.
Clearly the function is already there, sort of, in storyline and needs a tweak in the implementation. Welcome to the community, Pia! 😊
Those are excellent questions, and I'm happy to shed more light:
- Export a single caption file for the entire course: Currently, there isn't a way to export every closed caption at once in Storyline. You'll need to export the captions for each audio file individually.
- Include closed captions in the published MP4 file: When publishing for video, closed captions are not included since there are no player elements.
We're tracking requests for both features, so I'll surface your post to my team and notify you of any changes. Here's a glimpse into how we manage feature ideas.
Let me know if you have any more questions!
