Feedback By Choice not showing

Hello!

I have a multi-response quiz and I need to customise the feedback per response but the option in the dropdown is not available. Is this limited to a type of question? Thanks in advance for your helpful answers!

  • Feedback by choice is only an option for multiple-choice questions. It's not available for multiple-response.

You could customize the feedback on the Incorrect layer. Give different feedback (either show/hide objects with text, or change the state of one object) based on which buttons are selected.

Hi, I attempted your advice but I failed. I think I'm missing something in terms of variables. If it isn't too much waste of your time, would you mind looking at my project?

Yes, I can take a look at the file if you upload it.

Here are the best practices for uploading a .story file:

        • Only include slides that are related to the problem.
        • Be sure objects, layers, motion paths, and variables have meaningful names.
        • If there is proprietary content, replace or delete it. For example, replace proprietary text with “ipsum lorem” text.

FYI: A common mistake when using multiple conditions is to connect them with AND (all conditions must be met) instead of OR (any condition must be met).

Also, it's best to use "≠ Selected" (instead of "= Normal"). That's because all the built-in states are based on Normal.

  • kristinaArg : The Try Again layer in the file you attached has 4 custom states: one for each of the characters in the responses. But you can't show 2 states at the same time.

You have to consider what feedback you want to show for any combination of responses that the user could select. Even though it is a multiple response, they could select just 1 that's right, or 1 that's wrong. Or they might select any 2 or any 3 buttons. Or all 4.

Thus, you need to start by figuring out what feedback to show in what circumstances (that is, based on which buttons are Selected and not Selected). Yes, that might be different feedback for every possible combination. Then set up triggers accordingly.

And, yes, that's complicated (which is probably why Articulate doesn't offer feedback-by-choices for multiple-response questions).

So you might want to consider providing the same Try Again feedback/hint no matter how they answer. Or don't give them hints at all on the Try Again layer. Just provide more explicit feedback about each response on the Incorrect layer. That could also be provided on the Correct layer.

This makes total sense! I guess we'll just have to redesign our knowledge check to make it work without the complexity of building. Thanks for your help!
