Glitch with numbered list in Rise
Hello everyone,
I'm happy to let you know we released a new update for Rise 360. This update fixes the issue you encountered where numbered and ordered lists in blocks do not display the correct numbers when previewed or published. There's nothing to install for web apps. New features and fixes are immediately available, though you might need to export your Rise 360 course again.
Let me know if you have any questions about this update or the issue you reported!
I am getting this same error. This can be easily reproduced.
- Open up a new Rise course lesson.
- Add a Text block (defaults to Heading + Paragraph)
- Type a "1." in front of "Heading" and then press Spacebar. It will add a space between "1." and "Heading" and automatically formats it into a list item.
- Add 3 more "Heading + Paragraph" Text blocks to your course
- In Text block 2's Heading. Enter "2." and Spacebar to repeat step 3 above. It will format this Heading into a list item.
- Repeat step 5 so that block 3's heading reads "3. Heading" and is formatted as a list item and block 4's heading reads "4. Heading" and is formatted as a list item.
- Press Preview
- All numbering of the Headings are "1." There is no obvious way to correct this.
We would need either of the following solutions:
- A way to undo the automatic list formatting that occurs when you type "1." then Space in front of a Heading word. Currently hitting Undo removes the number and period entirely. It should work like Word where hitting Undo removes the automatic formatting but leaves "1. " so it reads "1. Heading" without being a list item
- Make the numbering continue intelligently across blocks, so that when Previewing, block 2's heading is "2. Heading", block 3's heading is "3. Heading", and so on.
Hi DLearning!
Sorry to hear you've run into this setback!
I can confirm we have this behavior logged as a bug in Rise 360. This bug causes Numbered Lists in Blocks to not display the correct numbers during preview/publish (always starts with '1'). I've linked this discussion to the bug report so we can notify you as soon as a fix is in place. In the meantime, as a workaround, we suggest:
- Manually creating the list
- Copy/Paste from Notepad (not formatted)
Thank you for your patience! Sorry if this has been slowing you down!
