While you could make something like this, and automate most of the display functionality with JavaScript, it would be quite a bit of work to make it reliable and visually appealing. Perhaps you could consider an alternative approach, like embedding an external module into your page. For example, the H5P Advanced Fill in the Blanks question type I believe offers what you were describing.

These can be hosted externally and embedded into your SL slide inside a web object. With a little effort, they can usually even be repackaged into a standalone module that you can include inside your SL project (no external server required).
