How do you align a particular object with another?

I know that you should select both objects and then just click the horizontal centering option, but how do I get one in particular to center to the other to make sure both are exactly aligned on the x value (the thin margins despite the same x value). I've tried selecting them in different orders, but the same object is always used as the centering basis. How do I get the other one to be the real centering basis?

  • Hi Edward,

Happy to help. If you'd like two Storyline objects to have the same X value, click the "Align Left" button instead of "Align Center." When you click "Align Left," the object to the left is always used as the basis of the X value.

Even when you alter the selection order, "Align Left" will still use the leftmost object as the basis. If you want the object to the right as the basis, you can get its X value and manually adjust the other object to have the same X value. Let me know if this works for you and what you meant by "the thin margins despite the same x value."
