How to create a video transcript in Rise, that can be scrolled vertically ?
Hello Everyone,
I have added a video and a text to a lesson in Rise,
without using Storyline.
When I preview the lesson and scroll vertically the text,
the video moves vertically as well and gets hidden eventually.
But I need that the video remains still and visible,
so that one can watch the video, while reading and scrolling the text below.
How can this issue be resolved in Rise,
without using Storyline ?

Here's the full video, this is one of the easier modifications you can make to your Rise course. Also included in this video is how to quickly insert an icon into your text block.

Hi, this works great in the developer/inspect mode, but when I refresh or go to a different section the scrolling disappears, is there a way to get it to save to the course in rise, so that it will scroll for everyone?
Hi, I believe you need to publish it first, then make the changes I think it'll be in the index.html file of the published package. You can also change characters in the scenario blocks after publishing, but this is a bit easier, as no coding is required.

I am surprised Articulate Rise doesn't have the functionality when a video is uploaded using a multimedia block. I have use the closed captions feature by uploading the .vtt file after I have uploaded the video. Has there been any movement in creating a transcript as well once the .vtt is uploaded?

Currently, there has not been any movement on transcription features within Rise 360. However, that functionality does exist in Storyline 360. As a workaround, have you considered adding a Storyline Block to your Rise lesson to accomplish a similar setup?
- Here's a sample lesson with a closed-captioned video, and the transcription feature enabled.
If you would prefer to build this solely in Rise, you can add text below the video using a Text Block. Then, remove the excess space between the video and the text by reducing the padding. This screen recording from my teammate Alyssa helps illustrate those steps.

I am only just coming back to this. I know this is a workaround, but the added Storyline block is a bit cumbersome as it is a separate file to maintain.New accessibility legislation implemented in Europe this year (2025) requires companies, by law, to ensure that any digital learning tool like, a piece of elearning, is accessible. Based on this, I think the requirement for this feature to be part of the Rise suite is essential and not a "Nice to have" feature. 2 years on, is there possibly any chance of this being a feature upgrade?
As a work around at the moment, I place the video into Rise with the CC (Vrt file). Underneath, I create a multimedia block, and place a PDF of the video transcript in it.Thanks

Hi Juan Manuel! Are you using the Multimedia>Embed block? Would you be able to share the link so we can check?
Hi Karen! You may need to adjust the Google document's sharing link before inserting it in Rise 360.
If your link has "/view?usp=sharing" at the end of the url, change that portion of the URL to "/preview"

The video embed block does not work for this depending of the security settings for certain companies. It does not accept the import of the Google document.
Hi Xavier! In the example I showed in my first reply, the Google document is embedded directly inside the Rise 360 course below the video. You can use a multimedia embed block to do this.
If that doesn't work for you, try using video closed captions!

The Google Document is indeed embedded graphically below the video.
But I understand, that the Google Document is stored in Google Drive (not in the LMS).
And this architecture has significant drawbacks, mentioned in my previous message.
I think, that “Closed Captions” is an interesting functionality.
But it does not respond to my original requirement.

Hello, Xavier! In this example, I included the video transcript on a Google document, then I embedded that document below the video using a multimedia embed block. Hopefully this sparks some ideas!

If I understand correctly the proposed architecture :
• Videos would be delivered by an LMS (containing a SCORM file exported from Rise).
• Transcripts would be delivered by another file server (such as Google Drive).
Then I think, that this architecture would have significant drawbacks :
• The course production procedure would be too complex.
• It would be difficult to ensure the consistency between videos and transcripts.
For the sake of simplicity and consistency,
I need to export the entire content of the course into a single SCORM file.
In an e-learning context, I think, that it is a common requirement,
to display transcripts beside videos.
Therefore, I expected, that Rise would meet this requirement out of the box.
But I now understand, that it does not currently.
