How to disable "Hit Enter Key to Advance Slide "
Hello Everyone!
I wanted to share some great news! We are no longer seeing this bug that prevented the enter key from functioning as expected when submitting answers on a freeform text entry field with an expanded height in Storyline.
Please make sure that you are using the current version of Storyline 360 (3.72.29699.0). This guide walks you through installing, updating, and opening Articulate 360 apps.
Please let us know if you're still encountering the issue and we'd be happy to continue troubleshooting with you in a support case.
Hi Maiectic Consultant,
Great question! I understand you'd like to keep users from being able to skip questions by using the 'Enter' key. I’m happy to work with you to figure out why this is happening! I have a follow-up question regarding the setup of your question so I can understand what you are experiencing a little better.
- Is this happening with more than one file or is this the only one?
- Are you working from a shared drive? If so, I recommend saving your files on your local drive before creating, editing, and publishing them. This will help minimize any unexpected behavior.
- Are there any submit keys entered for the question? You can check that by opening the question slide and clicking Form View. The Submit Keys setting is toward the bottom right. Here's a screenshot highlighting the setting.
If you see Enter there, click the X button to the right of the entry field to remove to key.
I’ve attached a Story file that I created in Storyline 360. The text entry question doesn't allow you to move on after hitting 'Enter'. Do you mind opening it into Storyline 360 on your end to see if you notice the same behavior?

Hi, having the same issue and yes, when I add an additional slide after it and press enter in your sample it DOES allow me to submit without recording answers, and I can't return to the slide to type anything anymore. Please try it out when you have an additional slide after the text entry. I'm up to date with my software and I'm still trying to figure out how to resolve this as I can't locate the navigation restriction options.
