How to Make Objects Pulse Periodically Without Individual Triggers
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a project in Articulate Storyline and need some help with animations. I want an object (like a button or image) to pulse repeatedly and periodically, starting when the timeline begins.
Currently, I can make the object pulse once by using a "timeline starts" trigger. However, to make it pulse multiple times, I have to manually add multiple triggers or time each animation manually.
Is there a way to loop the pulse animation automatically so that it continues periodically without needing to set up individual triggers for each pulse?
Any advice or creative workarounds would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Hi Tim,
If you would, try using these two triggers.
- Emphasize Picture 1 using Pulse, When the timeline starts on this slide
- Emphasize Picture 1 using Pulse, When the animation Pulse on Picture 1 completes

Hey there. The way it was taught to me was to create a "looping shape" off stage with a circle motion path attached to it. In addition to the standard "Move [looping shape] along [path] when timeline starts, a second trigger is created so that the "looping shape" is set to repeat that same animation when the motion path animation completes. Create another trigger that connects the "repeat this motion path animation" with one that reads "Emphasize [pulsing shape] when the animation completes on [looping shape]". Adjust the duration of the looping shape motion path to reflect how often you want the pulsing shape to pulse.
