Hyperlink Styles - More than one?
Hello NikkiKrause,
Thanks for sharing your input! I can see how having more than one hyperlink style and additional text decoration options like dashed or dotted underlines would make it easier to design accessible and visually consistent courses.
We have added your note to the existing feature request our team is tracking for multiple hyperlink styles in Storyline 360. I appreciate you taking the time to share what would help improve your workflow.
Hi Eric, just checking in to see if there are any updates on this.
We’re currently encountering an issue with the default hyperlink styling in Storyline. When links appear on a dark background, the default style does not meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility contrast requirements. While hotspots can be used as a workaround, they aren’t always ideal from an accessibility, usability, or maintenance perspective—especially when maintaining consistent link behavior.
It would be great to see an enhancement in a future Storyline release that allows for:
- Improved default accessible link styles, or
- Greater control over hyperlink contrast and styling to meet WCAG 2.1 requirements out of the box
This would significantly reduce the need for workarounds and help teams build accessible content more efficiently. Thanks for considering this request.

Hi JirahPastrana,
You’re right to call this out, especially from an accessibility perspective, and I appreciate you checking in on it. While I don’t have a specific update to share right now, this is still something we’re actively tracking.
Here’s how this works today. Storyline currently supports a single hyperlink style per course, so there isn’t a built-in way to adjust link styling based on different backgrounds or contrast needs. As you mentioned, workarounds like hotspots can help in some cases, but they’re not always ideal for accessibility or long-term maintenance.
You’re also highlighting an important point around WCAG 2.1 compliance. Having more control over hyperlink styling, especially for contrast on varying backgrounds, would make it much easier to build accessible courses without relying on workarounds.
I’ve added your feedback, including the accessibility use case you described, to the existing request. We’re continuing to gather input around this need.
