Great question! I understand you would like some information on how to mark skipped questions and allow users to get back and answer them at the end of the quiz. I'd be happy to find some information for you on that!
You'll want to create bookmarks on each question and then add a trigger with a true/false variable to each bookmark. I see that you are looking to do this without bookmarks but that looks like the best way to get this accomplished. Here is a post from another community member giving a step-by-step on how they accomplish this and it even includes a sample Story file.
