Inactivity and timeout

Is it possible to have the course "timeout" and kick you back to the LMS when a student have been passive for a period of time?

We use SCORMcloud to host our courses and they have a built-in time tracker that shows us how much time they've spent on a course. Sometimes a student opens up the course and they won't exit it until they are done with it, resulting in sessions often longer than ~50 hours. They didn't spend that time on the course, just a couple of minutes here and there.

I've asked Rustici Software about this but there is nothing SCORMcloud can do. However, I've been told some of their customers use a "built-in" function in their authoring tool to have the course exit upon a time limit when idleing.

This is something that can be done on most LMS's.

On the LMS we use, as administrator I set a time limit for inactivity, after which the LMS logs the learner out.

  • Hi there, Martin! Rise 360 doesn't have a feature that will send the learner back to the LMS after a period of inactivity. Hopefully, folks in the community can share other ideas with you!

  • Hi Geoff, thanks for following up on this. There aren't any plans at this time to include a feature that detects inactivity or timeout. That being said, the community may chime in with solutions they've implemented for their LMS!

  • thanks for the quick reply renz, ive just submitted a case to support too, oh well i'll go back to LMS provider

    Thanks again
