Inserting objects

Is there a way you insert an object into SL that it only inserts for a few seconds and not for the entire duration of the slide? Thank you.

  • Hello James,

    Happy to help!

You can control when an object will be visible by adjusting its position in the timeline of the slide. Here's a quick video which shows how to adjust the timeline of a rectangle shape so that its only visible for a few seconds:

Let me know if you have any questions!

How did you get the object that you brought in not to be the same timing length as the video?  I know how to move the timeline around; it's adding things, and they are the same length as the video.  Here is an example, I have a timeline that is 120 seconds long.  I want to add a shape at the 30-second mark, but when I add the shape, it goes in at 30 seconds and stops at the 120-second mark.  I hope I explained that well.

  • You probably can’t change that behavior, objects tend to have their own version of a good default length. So you have to adjust the timing after it goes in. Joe’s video show one method, moving the end to the left.

Another method is to right-click the object on the timeline, choose timing, and set it to the length you want.
