Interaction between LMS and SCORM modules regarding course progress display

I’m giving it a try here, even though the question isn’t directly related to Articulate products. Maybe someone has a tip for me.

I work with Storyline to create courses. For the LMS, we use LearnDash. In LearnDash, users have a progress indicator, meaning that once they have completed a course, the progress bar shows 100%.

Now, we have the problem that sometimes it's necessary to make content changes to the courses. As soon as we upload the new SCORM module to the LMS, however, the progress indicator for users who have already completed the course resets to 0%. I’ve been told that this is why it’s not possible to make content changes to courses that have already been uploaded to the LMS.

Apparently, the only solution is to upload each individual slide as a separate SCORM module in LearnDash. Has anyone come across this problem or found another solution?

I’d also be very interested in a community where people generally discuss LMS-related topics.

Kind regards
Julie

  • Hi Julie,

While I have not used LearnDash, I believe Litmos LMS has a setting upon upload where you can affect whether the new version of a SCORM file resets the progress for those who have previously accessed the course. In essence, I believe you can choose whether the new version is to be used by everyone or only by those who access the course for the first time. Perhaps there is a similar setting in the LearnDash user guide that you can find.
