Is it possible to upload a thumbnail to a video in Rise 360?
I've uploaded a video, but the thumbnail appears to be the first frame of the video, and I can't change this without changing the first frame.
This isn't ideal, as the video has an animated logo opener, so the first frame is just a white background. I'd prefer to upload a thumbnail of the full logo instead, while keeping the video as is.
I've tried an alternative where I've uploaded the video to YouTube, added a thumbnail through the YouTube publish process, then added this to the Rise course via the embedded video option, but the thumbnail appears blurry for some reason.
Any solutions or workarounds would be appreciated.

- PeterNeelmeyerCommunity MemberA workaround to do this with Rise is to do it with Embed_Video.storytemplate.
 And then implement the element.
- ZacharyWattCommunity MemberLooks like we still can't add a custom thumbnail to our videos in Articulate Rise. Any word on when this common key feature might be added? We need it! 🙏🏼 Thank you.
- LyndaKluck-4851Community MemberI brought my videos into Camtasia and put a 2-second thumbnail at the beginning with a transition to the video. It would be so much easier if this functionality were built into Rise. I've also used the Mighty plug-in, which is great as it supports the thumbnail as well as other features mentioned in an earlier post (and more functionality beyond video), but it's $337/year to get this added functionality. - I totally get how built-in thumbnail and transition options would save time and effort in Rise. I’ve passed your feedback along to our Product team. They’re always looking for ways to make authoring easier, so it’s great to have real-world examples like yours. If anything changes on this front, I’ll be sure to keep you posted! - TomGriffin-c0abCommunity MemberJumping on this - Articulate dev team. Thumbnails for video's please 🙏

- CraigLintonCommunity MemberThanks, Stephen. This looks interesting. For some reason, I've never thought to use extensions or plug-ins for Storyline or Rise. I'll check it out in the meantime :)
- StephenRCommunity MemberAdding one vote for this issue too. The ability to add a thumbnail or poster image to a video would be really useful - TraciSynatschk-Community MemberHey just popping in to say I solved this with the Mighty extension. It allows you to upload a thumbnail, control several video features (along with a whole host of other cool functions).
You can check it out here and do a free trial to see if it helps solve this issue for you. I've found it to be one of the best addons I've ever used for Rise.
Here's what the expanded video options look like. You can add the thumbnail, round the corners, hide the play button and set it to autoplay and restrict the video controls. All great features to have handy!
- Hello StephenR, - Thank you for sharing your request to add a thumbnail or poster image to videos in Rise 360! - I've passed your feedback along to our product team, and we'll keep you updated if there are any changes that address this feature. - CraigLintonCommunity MemberWell, it's been 3 years, so I wouldn't hold out hope. It's a shame that the common response from staff is pass the feedback along to the product team. I understand that that's the process, but the amount of times that I've searched for something here, only to find a years old thread and a note from staff to say that it's been passed on, but never an update. Usually, like what's happened here, someone will stumble across the thread, add a comment or ask a related question, then staff will reply to say they've passed it on again. I like Articulate and I'll always recommend your software, but I really wish that you'd action some of the common requests in your forums instead of rolling out minor AI features that don't actually add much value to the development process.

- AimeeBosse-7c96Community MemberSame here. Articulate please add a video cover option in Rise. Thank you! - I've shared your comments with our developers! Thank you for following up on this.

- JenMcIntoshCommunity MemberMy team has come across this situation as well and could really use a thumbnail feature.
- GrantCrowell-cfCommunity MemberOk, it's crazy that even after 2 years, there's still no fix on Articulate's part for this when it's a common feature in free video platforms! 😶 Here's what I do: - Export the frame in your video you wish to have as your thumbnail image (or create a custom image). This will be your "poster" image
- Open your video software with the existing video
- Move all of the existing footage over just a single frame
- Insert your new poster image as the very first frame on the top track.
- Export your video and upload to Rise.
Yes, this adds extra time, but it will get you the results in Rise that you need for now.
- JTHolt-3c753421Community MemberThis may seem like the biggest little issue, but it has a super easy workaround. You can upload your video into any video editor, export a single-frame image of the screen you want to be your thumbnail, make it as small as possible - like a fraction of a second - and move that to the beginning of your video. When you upload the video to Rise, the first frame is now your thumbnail. When a user presses play, the thumbnail disappears instantly, and the animated intro begins. I've included an image of what the timeline looks like with the thumbnail added.
- KevinBrierton-aCommunity MemberFirst time using Rise and I'm very surprised this is an issue. Come on Articulate get with the times.
