Is there a way to move entire sections?
Hello,
I'm trying to rearrange 192 lessons that are contained within 21 different sections. I want to only move the 21 sections (with their content/lessons) and not have to move each one of the individual lessons. Is this possible? If not, do you have any suggestions to rearrange these lessons without major confusion?

Exactly what everyone in this thread is asking about; moving entire sections with their lessons attached. Changing section order within a course and bringing their nested lessons with them. The author of this thread said they have 192 lessons inside 21 sections.

Think of it like Layers in Photoshop. If you couldn't rearrange the order at will, your artwork would be in serious trouble and it would take hours to resolve. The same thing is happening here. As developers, we need to hand-hold each lesson to move it up or down, and there's no way to just move an entire section up or down with everything inside it.
Not to mention this thread started THREE YEARS AGO... it's almost insane and people are being too passive about the elephant in the room. Forgive me, I'm old school, so when I see an obvious solution, I bark. - StephenWilli603Community Member
I really need a solution to this too. I'm a new user and it is disappointing to see a fundamental feature request be unaddressed for 4 years. The Photoshop analogy above is spot-on. Please priorities this update.

Hi Stephen,
What exactly are you trying to do in Rise?
- StephenWilli603Community Member
I want to move a section all the way down to the bottom (skipping past dozens of other sections) with one button press, or a copy/paste function.
At the moment I have to keep clicking on the down arrow as it slowly makes its way past each section one by one, and it takes ages.
Thanks.

Hi Stephen,
You can use a Block Template for this purpose. Create a Block Template for the block you want to move. Then delete that block from the Lesson. Go to the place in the Rise lesson where the block should go and insert the copied block from the Block Template library.

Excellent, I shall try this, thank you!

BTW in Rise a "Section" and a "block" are not the same thing.
To add on to what Karl shared, you can drag sections and lessons one by one in the course outline, but I completely understand the frustration when you have numerous sections and lessons. We've documented this request so we can follow up with you here if we build a way to make this easier.
Thanks!

This really is a critical feature request, and a very basic one. We constantly have to re-organize content, and the tips and hints for the work-arounds are a painful waste of time. Please please add it to your portfolio of requested changes.

Hi Kamali,
Block Templates is the perfect tool for moving content.
- TracyMarshall-aCommunity Member
The procedure for arranging content right now is clunky and time-consuming. The ability to drag and drop pieces of content, copy and paste them from one section to another, etc. is critical. Using a block template as a workaround not the solution.

Agreed Tracy,
Workarounds are not solutions... and this one is a whopper.
Hi Tracy and Erick,
Thank you for your feedback!
I understand rearranging content can be time-consuming and frustrating. I'll add your votes to this feature request and will be sure to update this discussion with our progress.
