Issues with recording screen?
I recently started having issues using Articulate Storyline 2 to record my screen to create videos.
When I set the grid lines to only record part of my screen, everything looks ok throughout the recording. However, when I insert the recording onto a slide the actual recording is off by a few millimeters of screen (off-set from what I set it to record). Sometimes even the record button and the grid lines appear in the video. Even when I record full screen, it is not quite capturing the full screen. Also, sometimes when I am recording my screen Articulate will either completely freeze or crash. I have never seen it freeze or crash at any other time, only when I am recording.
Not sure if this is relevant or not, but on my computer Storyline 2 is also due for an update, which I am unable to do myself. I am using this product at work, and we are locked from doing our own updates. I put in a ticket with IT weeks ago to do the Articulate update, but apparently there is a licensing/permissions issue they need to straighten out before they can do the update. I'm hoping this issue clears up at whatever point I am able to update.
Any advice?

Hi, Laurel -- Would you be able to run through a few troubleshooting steps to get started, perhaps? Please make sure you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline.
Please let us know if issues persist, and we'll see what else we find.

Hello, we are having the same issue - Storyline 2, just updated to the latest version, Windows 10, and the same templates used across the team. My colleague has posted this link. We have 3 set ups, 2 on windows 10 and 1 on windows 7. All using the same templates. Not only does the recording include Articulate play/pause but doesn't allow you to resize the recording area. We have applied the same options/settings/formatting as the two that work fine but till no joy
Hi Eric. I see Leslie gave some advice in your co-worker's post. I know you said that you just downloaded the latest version, but at the bottom of the repair steps is a link to our article on doing a complete reinstallation to resolve erratic behavior. I will say that I've been able to record properly on my Windows 10 machine.
Let me know how you make out.

Hi all, in the past year I have also come up with one other solution. I have two monitors in addition to my docked laptop. Recording works flawlessly if I undock and just use my laptop, and also if I use my left monitor. Some setting on my right monitor does not record the screen within the gridlines I set it up to record. When I posted this last year, I had been trying to record in my right monitor.
Obviously this is an issue with my setup, but I share this because undocking and using the other monitor have been very simple, non-technical solutions for me. Maybe others can find simple solutions when they encounter similar issues!
PS - I'm finally getting the Storyline 2 update this week! Woohoo!
Laurel, that's great advice! Thanks for sharing.

This worked flawlessly! I had tried 10 times before seeing this comment. I undocked my monitor and it worked perfectly! Thank you!
