Link styles

Is there currently a way to define two styles for links.

The issue I constantly face with links is if I define a style to use on light backgrounds, the link will not be accessible on a dark background. 

Although I can use the "highlight" for hover and active states, and I can update the text colour for the normal state on a link by link basis, it is not possible to define a visited state for dark and light backgrounds, as you cannot select the "highlight", you can only turn the underline on and off.

Any ideas?
