Matching SL360 design size to PowerPoint size for extremely widescreen

What is the trick to matching up the screen resolution in PowerPoint to the design size in Storyline 360? I am developing a course strictly for mobile phones in landscape and most phones are much more wide than 16x9 now. For example the iPhone 13 is 2532 x 1170. If you divide the resolutions you get 2.164. So I then opened a new SL360 project which is defaulted to 960 x 540. I multiplied the 540 x 2.164 to get my size of 1168 x 540. To match in Powerpoint the default was 13.33 x 7.5 so I multiplied 7.5 x  2.164 and get my 16.23 x 7.5 PowerPoint resolution. All looks good until I import a test slide and the text gets shrunk significantly once imported into Storyline. See attached 2 images.

Any help on matching SL360 resolution to PowerPoint resolution would be appreciated. Also, if there is any reason not to go so widescreen I'd love to hear that too.

Thanks!

  • There are several factors to consider - but my mathing (limited) would cause me to created the target the Slide size in Storyline at 1558x720 to match what you created in PPT.  I just tested it and it came out pretty close to identical in SL as it was in the PPT.

Ron, or anyone, can you share the formula for matching SL size to a PowerPoint? For example another client just sent me a storyboard and it is 13.333" x 7.5". It is 16x9, but if I import to just any 16x9 resolution in Storyline the text sizes are off. How do I calculate what the exact right resolution my Storyline size should be?

    Thanks!
