Mic not working with "Record Screen" tool............
Hi,
Earlier I was using the record screen tool and noticed it wasn't recording the audio. I configured my headset with Windows 10 and Storyline. Also, ensured the Mic was actually working in my headset.
Wondering what it could be?
Please advise.
Thanks

Hi Ben,
I was curious about this myself as I use an external microphone when recording audio.
I found this article from 2016 titled Unable to Record Audio. It looks like Windows might not be recognizing your device once you are in Storyline. Perhaps a setting within the audio device properties needs to be updated.
Hope this helps! - BenSmith-00552cCommunity Member
Thanks Luciana!
I tried that and it still doesn't work despite being enabled.
When you record, the user should see the mic indicator detecting audio, correct?

You're welcome, Ben!
Ah, I'm so sorry to hear that it's still not working for you. External audio sources always add some fun into the mix! I wanted to show you what I was experiencing when I attempted to use the record screen feature with an external microphone while in Storyline.
Here is the video below:

The indicator did not start moving for me until I clicked the record button. It might vary depending on the use of an external or internal audio source.
Perhaps opening a brand new session of Storyline once your headset microphone is connected would do the trick!

Hi Luciana,
You're very helpful - I really appreciate it!
I thought that was the case - the mic indicator should work as yours does.
I'll try a little more and if it doesn't work, I'll do it on my Mac desktop and import it. The problem is I'm doing an instructional video on "Email etiquette" where I use a body of an email and when I imported previously the text appeared too small. Anyway, I'll see what I can do.
Thanks again and have a great day!

Hi Ben,
You're welcome! I'm so glad I could share my experience.
Great idea to use your other computer to record. Perhaps it just isn't recognizing your specific headset for some reason. Oh, technology!
Sounds like a cool project, Ben. Very important to have this course be an interactive experience for your learners. Wishing you the best of luck with it!
Thanks so much, hope you have a great day too!

I was able to record it on my desktop on my Mac and then import. Surprisingly it worked out this time. Last time I tried the text turned out too small.

That's great you found a solution by using your Mac. I'm so glad, Ben!
Happy developing!
