Modern player slide ratio
Hi. I like the new Modern player and tried applying it to one of my existing courses which is sized 1280 x 720 (16:9). The Modern player seems to be set to a default ratio which is not the traditional 4:3 or 16:9 so my project now doesn’t fill the horizontal space fully and doesn’t look so good. Can you tell me what the ideal slide ratio would be for this player. Thanks.

Hi, Tatiana. Thanks for those details – those clues will help us to nail down the culprit!
From here, I'd like to test the published output in SCORM Cloud, an LMS testing tool. This will narrow down whether the issue is related to Storyline or to your LMS.
Would you be willing to share your published output file with me? You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting. Be sure to include what type of Android device you're using so I can test in the same one.

Alyssa,
Thanks for your idea with testing on SCORM Cloud. It works well there.
I guess, then I have to improve my LMS settings. Many thanks!
Thanks for the update, Tatiana! Hopefully your LMS administrator can point you in the right direction. Best of luck!

Hi all,
This is my update on the question.
I tested the new player for iPhone SE and it does not work well - there are no player elements at all (menu, previous and next buttons).
The other thing is for those who use Moodle LMS, modern player and want users to be able to study using mobile devices.
Moodle (3.5) does not have an in-built full-screen mode for scorm packages which are opened on mobile devices. For example, scorm cloud does have it. And testing the course on scorm cloud you'll have a great experience, once you switch to Moodle it's gone.
Thus, Moodle opens courses as it can and depends on the device. Sometimes users can have good experience with an almost full-screen course. However, for some devices a scroll panel will be added, users will see 20-30% percent of a slide. To solve this I use custom "full-screen mode" button in the player.
Many thanks to Michael Anderson for the script.

Hope it could be useful for someone.
Hi everyone!
We just released Storyline 360 (Build 3.57.26407.0) today which includes the option to import scalable vector graphics (SVGs) to Storyline 360 so images stay sharp when learners zoom in and out.
Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app!
If you run into any issues, don't hesitate to reach out in this discussion or in a support case.

Awesome...thanks for the update, Lauren!
It appears the initial issue still hasn't been resolved since the first post in this thread over 3 years ago, though. I'm on a small, 24" laptop screen, and using either 4:3 or 16:9 as my slide stage, the content appears in the middle 1/3 of the laptop screen with navigation buttons underneath on the very right and left, with at least 4" of blank "padding" between the content and the buttons. I'm still very curious why the developers haven't, after 3 years, found a way or reason to allow the navigation/player to be bound to the slide size, rather than the display size.
Hello J A, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊
I appreciate you chiming in with your experience with the Modern Player as well.
We have an open feature request specific to the Modern Player to add an option to "Lock the Player at Optimal Size." This conversation is linked to our report to share updates with you here in the future, and I've also shared your comments.

We are using the Modern Player as well and are having an issue with the way the bottom seek bar shows in different browsers. It's completely hidden in Chrome and only accessible in Edge. Any idea how to fix that?

Hi Peter! Thank you for sharing screenshots of what you are experiencing.
Here's are a few things to begin troubleshooting:
- Under Player Properties, Player Controls, have you checked the seekbar? (I'm assuming you have already done this since it is showing up on other browsers)
- Are Chrome and Firefox running on the latest updates?
- Here is more information on Storyline 360 system requirements.
If that does solve your issue, would you be able to share your .story file with us publicly here or privately in a case? We will delete it from our systems when troubleshooting is complete.

Hey Andrea
Thank you for replying.
- Seekbar is definitely on in the player settings.
- Chrome (v.100.0.4896.88 - latest)
- Firefox (v.99.0.1 - latest)
- Our LMS is Docebo - I have reached out to them already as well but it seems like it's more of a publishing tool issue or browser incompatibility.
- I can share the file, just include it in the message?
