MP4 and captions
Hi
I have published my work, with a video with audio, as mp4. My work has closed captions included and I see them correctly in Preview mode.
When I publish my file to Video, the closed captions do not display. I have added a Player.DisplayCaptions trigger but the result is the same. Ok in preview mode but not in the final mp4, and for me it is important that the subtitles appear as I have set them, so that they do not cover the contents of my slide.
I’m using Storyline 360 x 64 with AI.
thanks

there should be an associated VTT or SRT file produced when you publish the video. This will display your captions.

Storyline doesn't burn captions into the video unfortunately

The captions automatically get included in the published output. The published output for a video project consists of the MP4 video file and a corresponding VTT captions file, as shown below.
To view captions, open the MP4 video on your local computer. Then, use the media player’s controls to enable the captions if they are not already turned on. Enabling captions may vary depending on the media player, but the player should automatically detect the captions file if it is stored in the same folder as the video file.
The captions may not appear as they do in the Storyline preview, but will instead follow the design implemented by the default media player. - GiovanniFinottoCommunity Member
Of course, I understand that this is a solution and I know how and where to upload the VTT file that you create together with the mp4 file. However, it is very strange and unpleasant that everything that is previewed in storyline is not played in the output mp4.
Thanks anyway to everyone.

You're welcome, Giovanni. Just to clarify, this is not a solution but rather the default behavior in Storyline, where the .vtt file is auto-generated and doesn't need to be uploaded. The reason we don't see the captions the same way they appear in the Preview or other Storyline published outputs is that closed captions (CC) are user-controlled and can be turned on or off at any time. However, when published to a video container, these options are no longer available and are no longer user-controlled. At that point, Storyline is no longer responsible for handling the closed captions; instead, the video player manages them.
