New feature in Storyline 360: Interactive 360° images
Today we released a new feature in Storyline 360 called 360° images. We think you’ll love transforming any 360° image into an interactive learning experience that invites learners to explore and engage.
Import any panoramic 360° image, pick an initial view, and resize for the perfect fit. Looking for images to experiment with? Try this collection.
Once you’ve imported an image, you can add interactions using markers, hotspots, and triggers to capture learners’ attention and add contextual info to the images they’re exploring. You can create custom markers and add hotspots anywhere on the image.
Finetune how learners interact with 360° images easily. Add progress meters to show learners their progress, and choose how learners navigate through the image to create the immersive experience you want.
Download the latest version of Storyline 360 to start experimenting with 360° images—and share your projects! We’d love to see them here in E-Learning Heroes.

Hi, I want to insert a video into a 360-image, but all the media-options in 360 edit-mode are greyed out. How come?
- MichaelOppenheiCommunity Member
Tommy,
You need to create a layer on the slide that has the 360 image. On the new layer insert the video. Go back to 360 image and create a marker or hotspot. Then create a trigger that opens the layer with the video.

I don't think you have to create layers and triggers to add video to your 360 image. Just add a marker or hotspot, then select it as active and the "Add Media" options will become available.

Hi,
We have recently deployed our 360 course and we’ve had some issues with the 360 images not displaying. We had 49 users only 3 had this issue. When the users move to the 3rd or 4th (Its random it does not happen to a specific 360 image) 360 image does not load, the other element like the header loads correctly.
Anyone else had this issue before?
Thanks.- KarlMullerCommunity Member
I have been having the same issue.
Instead of the 360 image loading, I just see a block rectangle where the image should appear.
It's completely random whether the 360 image will display or not.

Thank you Karl for your answer. Exactly the same issue! We have also noticed that our graphic card peaks when the bug happens the first time, but we are not sure if it's the reason of the bug. We have also reduced the size of the 360 images but we still experience the bug.
Hopefully a we get a fix soon!
Thanks for reaching out to share your experience with Mehdi, Denise.

Hi Mehdi,
Thank you for sharing what some of your learners are experiencing. It's tough to track down the culprit when you cannot replicate the issue. If you need a hand from our team, I'd recommend sharing your .story file here.

Found a new issue.
Was prompted this morning to update SL which I did.
Then resumed working on a 360 image I had started yesterday.
Republished it, and now Instead of the 360 image loading. I first see a gray background with a large play button.
Once clicked, the 360 image appears and works normally.
Checking the older revisions of the same file on Review, none of them have the play button, only the ones I published today using the latest version of SL.
Anybody else seeing the same thing?
Hi Karl,
I appreciate you chiming in to share what you are experiencing as well. Did you happen to add audio to this first slide? This could cause a play button to appear.
Either way, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Please share your .story file with one of our support engineers here.

Hi Leslie,
Today I made a copy of the .story file I was working on yesterday, added a few more hotspots to the same slide, and republished.
I did not add an audio file, and am using the same 360 image file as before.
The only noticeable difference is the SL update that was applied today.
As a quick test, I republished the file I was working on yesterday.
Having made zero edits to this file, it now also has the play button.
This tells me the play button is showing up as a result of the SL update.

I have an audio file in the first slide, I have always had the play button.

Having an issue on an 360° Image slide where in preview mode, the image is black but I can still see the marker I've added to the image. Doesn't happen on any of the other 360° Image slides in the project. I've tried deleting the slide and replacing the image, but no luck.
Using most recent Storyline update.

Hi Thomas,
I've been seeing the black slide issue appear randomly after the most recent Storyline update.
I'm using four 360° Image slide blocks in succession in my Rise course, and the one will appear as black 75% of the time.
Hi Thomas & Karl,
Would you mind sharing either the image or the story so I could test on my end? You can post it here or email it to me at akim@articulate.com. I haven't been able to reproduce the bug myself yet but I'm hoping I'll be able to with your specific images so that we can look into what the problem might be and get a fix for it.

Hello,
I am newer to Storyline, so I apologize if this is a silly question. How were you able to customize the marker textbox size? My box is a fixed size/shape.
- Jonathan_HillSuper Hero
Hi Kerri - I'm not sure you can customize them greatly, which is why I created my own textboxes that I could fully customize, triggered to appear by a variable change instead. I wrote about it here if it's any help?

Hello! Thank you for the new great feature! I have a question: can we use Storyline courses with 360 images in VR?
- chrisboucher-d9Community Member
I've created a support ticket and I'll be sure to share what I learn.

The same behavior is happening to me as well - I've got the latest version of SL 360, I've tried re-booting it, etc. and still the 360 degree image is black when in preview mode, but it does show the markers. Is there a fix for this yet?
Hi Lauren!
Sorry, this is impacting you as well! I've opened a case on your behalf, so you should've received an email with an upload link. Can you upload your .story file? From there, our Support Engineers will take a look at your file. They'll also be able to test your file in different versions to understand exactly where the issue is stemming from.
We'll continue the conversation via email!

The latest I know is what Mehdi and Karl saw could not be reproduced by Articulate support. I'm in the same boat.
A workaround was found for a similar issue reported by Thomas Baird. That was to convert his png image to a jpg and reimport it.
