NEW in Rise: Export for Translation
If you need to create courses in multiple languages, you’re going to love this new Rise feature. It allows you to export your course text to an XLIFF file* and then reimport it once it’s been translated. Like magic: all your text is replaced by the translated text. It’s that easy!
*XLIFF files are a translation industry standard, so if you’re working with professional translators, then you shouldn’t have any issues. But what if the translations are being done by a fellow coworker or friend? No problem! If you do a quick Google search, you’ll find a ton of free tools that allow you to easily edit XLIFF files.

Hi there, i am having trouble with importing a translated XLIFF file in rise. I see object tags all over the document. Is this related wit the HTML checkbox when exporting?
What can i do ?

Do you gave the translation people the XLIFF file?
Or do you copy and paste filed by field the translation. How long does it take?
How much admin work is there? I am trying to figure out how much extra to charge for translated courses

What translation tool are you using to translate your XLIFF file? Perhaps other folks in the community can share their experiences with that too, as well.
I experienced the same issue as Julie with the recommended free XLIFF editor - http://xliff.brightec.co.uk. It looks like only the Course Title and Chapter Titles are populating for me to translate.

It looks like you used a tool called Online XLIFF Editor, is that right?
We tested that translation tool on our side, and we saw the same issues you saw. It appears the tool isn't populating all the course text for translation.We uploaded the same translation file to another tool, SDL Trados 2019, and all of the text populated correctly.
The issue seems to be with Online XLIFF Editor, since the same XLIFF file works fine with a different translation tool. Do you have another translation tool you can use?

I downloaded SDL Trados 2019 only to find that its only for Windows user. What solution have we got for Mac users like me?
I've imported the German Translated files to Rise. I get the "import successful message" but the course remains in English. I've opened the XLIFF file and can confirm that the text is in German. Any suggested troubleshooting?

Quick question, can I export Rise courses as an XLIFF, translate them in any (!) language, also Arabic and Tigrinya, including a translation of all labels in these languages? Will it all work when I import the translated texts?
I'm asking since I want to know for sure before paying a translation company.

Hi Alexander,
You can translate the XLIFF file in any language that is left-to-right and has scripts with double-byte character sets.
