No sound when publishing video

Hello,

I have an issue with video publishing in storyline 360.

My project includes 3 videos, all 3 with sound. When publishing a video from this project, in the resulting video, only the first and the last one have sound.

No issue in preview, it's only on the published output.

I try to add the audio track as a separate object on the slide, and the result is the same.

The slide where this video is included has a layer, which is not the case of the other 2 videos.

can you help me to solve this problem ?

Best regards,

  • Hello Baptiste,

I see that you were able to reach out to our support team as well and Jonathan has already taken a look and replied back to you.

Be sure to check your junk/spam folder if you do not initially see the e-mail from him.

  • I have several layers on my slide with audio on each layer.  they are timed out to show and hide layers with my narrative.  But when I publish to video,  the base layer audio does not play until about the third layer?  so it's quiet until the layers start moving then double sound on the third layer.  Can anyone please help?

  • Hello Lisa!

We're happy to help! I see that we still have this logged as a possible bug where using a layer to pause a video in the slide causes audio delays and unsyncs it from the video, specifically when publishing to video. To eliminate this issue, we recommend not using a layer to pause a video.

If you'd like us to take a look at your project to confirm that is what you're running into, don't hesitate to start working with our Support Engineers in a support case.

  • Hi,

I have a similar problem. When I publish my Storyline project as a video, the MP4 does play the beginning of the audio but after a while it stops.

The audio at the beginning of the Storyline project are "start when the slide begins" but the other (the ones not playing in the video) are "start when the previous audio ends". Is it related ?

What can I do ? I have a dozen of the same kind of videos to do in the next weeks...

I am attaching my story file.

    Thanks !

      Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for reaching out! We've opened a support case for you to let our Technical Support Engineers take a closer look at your sample file. They will reach out to you within the day to share their findings.

Please reach out through the case if you have additional questions. Thanks!

  • This seems a common problem. I exported my project as a video. None of the sound was playing, however I found that it was Media Player that was the problem. It worked in vlc player and when uploaded to Vimeo.

      Hi Diane!

It sounds like you've hit a snag with missing audio after publishing your course to video.

I noticed you've also opened a support case and connected with my colleague Mark. Great move! It looks like Mark replied to your e-mail with some troubleshooting steps for Windows Media Player. I'd suggest giving those a shot to see if that improves the behavior.

We can continue this conversation in your support case to keep all information in one spot.
