Objects animating with no animation applied
Is this a template? Complex states are often desiged with animations inside them. These may not be visible from the state editor. I would suggest
- Saving a copy of your project
- Creating a blank slide
- Opening the state editor on the items you have issues with
- Highlight and copy ALL of the contents of a given state
- Close the state editor
- Go to the blank slide
- Duplicate the copied contents (Ctrl-Shift-D)
- Duplicate rather than paste to make everything copy into te exact same position as it was originally
- Now you can examine the contents of the state with all of the tools and timeline access
Examine everything for animations or motion paths. This lets you see how it was built. Since the state editor is somewhat limited, you can't really build everything inside of it. You usually build it on a slide and then paste the final construct into the state editor when complete.
If you find what you want to change, edit/remove the animations but make sure you don't accidentally move any of the parts. If you want to modify the original button with your new version, go back to the other slide, edit the desired state, select all, and then delete the contents. Close the state editor. Then, come back the the other slide, copy all of your new content. Go back to the original slide, edit the state you need to fix again, then duplicate your copied content. It should go back where it started. Close the editor and try it out.
Usually, if you know that this is what you need to do, you would cut the original content from the state (Ctrl-X), and then duplicate it somewhere to edit. Then copy (or cut) your modified content and duplicate it back into the state editor. This save you a couple of steps.
I did this and it did not resolve. I do have a support case open.

Hi JLangenwalter!
Sorry to hear you've run into this setback! Glad to see the community has been helping you!
Smart move on opening a support case. I see your case is being handled by my colleague Cleober, who is currently troubleshooting your .story file. He should be following up with you shortly!
