Overlap on Multiple Text-to-Speech Narrations

I've built a project using the built-in AI in Storyline 360, including the narration. I published it to review today, and found the timing of the clips that I generated with the Storyline AI got wonky. If it was dialogue, sometimes the clips overlapped, though it was fine in preview, and if I had a layer show at the end of a sound clip, it jumped really fast and overlapped a bit more. Visually, they all look fine - no overlaps. I'm doing this the same way I've always done narration, but I've never experienced this before, and the only difference is the Storyline Text-to-Speech.

Has anyone else experienced this and how did you fix it?

I republished and it seems to be better so I'm not going to include a link. Maybe it was a fluke. It was embarrassing to deal with in my stakeholder review meeting today.

I also discovered that the voices can get tired and start spitting out gibberish, especially with numbers. I've seen that in other TTS AIs before. It's pretty funny to listen to, but annoying to contend with. Should I be doing something differently?

    Hi JeanMarrapodi-c,

Thanks for sharing a copy of your file. I was able to observe your reported issue with the AI-generated audio not being pronounced correctly. I opened a support case on your behalf to get you in touch with a support engineer who can help check why your AI-generated audio has some quality issues. Please keep an eye out for an email from them!

  • Hi JeanMarrapodi-c!

Sorry to hear you're running into setbacks with published Text-to-Speech from Storyline!

None of the behavior you shared is expected when working with AI TTS, and it would be easier to troubleshoot if we could see a copy of the affected .story file. It's great to hear that republishing appears to have corrected a momentary glitch. However, if the behavior returns, we'd be happy to inspect your file and test it further on our end.

Feel free to upload that here in the discussion or privately through a support case.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I wonder if it had something to do with Webex that we were using for the meeting yesterday. I have notes on 20 of these slides that were problematic, and now when I go back to  version 7 that we used for the review, nothing is doing that. It was so bizarre. Here's the link.

I didn't save anything with the jibberish and it wouldn't let me download the single sound file. I will save it and upload it to this thread if that repeats. It was using Brian's voice.

I've continued to work on the file since the review yesterday afternoon, so you won't see the things with the overlap. The team asked me to change out Arnold's voice, which I replaced with Brian's so it's pretty much a different setup now. Thanks for the quick response, StevenBenassi

      Hi StevenBenassi

Here's a slide with some of the goopy audio I was getting the day I posted this. You can hear that when it's reading dollar amounts; it gets goopy on the second and fourth layers on the first slide, and on the phone number on the second slice. I've rendered these multiple times trying to correct it and think I'm just going to need to type out the words.

When I wrote my initial post things were much worse, and it was giving me things that sounded Russian and Chinese and it wasn't just the numbers. This is the first time I've seen it again.
