Ownership of Rise Courses
Is there anyway to get ownership back or will there be a feature to get ownership back after transferred. For instance, if I transfer a Rise course to a co-worker and they somehow are not in the office or unable to access it, how can I get it back?

I appreciate that the needs of every organization may be different.
While it makes sense to have an owner for each course, from our perspective all of our team members should be able to edit and publish content.
What is needed is the ability to set up permissions for each team member to control who can edit and publish content etc. That would allow each organization to set up the accounts of their development team to suit their unique circumstances.
Thanks, Karl. That's valuable insight and an idea I'm happy to share with the team. We know that this is a pain point for a number of you, so they're looking into a number of different ideas and strategies.

As I read down through this chain, I see many others are experiencing some of the same issues we are experiencing. We have a Team license and use it to its capacity to collaboratively build lessons but are having a major issue with the management of the lessons once they have been built. We have instructional technology specialists who use their accounts to build the Rise lessons based on materials submitted by the Subject Matter Experts. Once there work has been completed, they transfer the lessons to me where I review, finalize, and publish to our internal server. We then have Curriculum Specialists who will work with Course Leads to make future edits to the newly created lessons as needed. The Curriculum Specialists receive requests to fix the lessons and are then added as collaborators. We want a full-time staff member to have ownership of all the lessons, so as it is now, a double transfer of the lesson must occur for the changes to be updated on the server.
We really need the ability to have 2 owners per lesson. That way the Curriculum Specialists could update the lessons and publish them immediately rather than losing additional time in the transferring lessons back and forth.
I saw someone had mentioned creating a generic account for them all to be stored in. Upon initial thought, that idea does not sound so bad, however, that still creates a transfer issue. According to what we have read in the Terms of Service, a generic account, even with a Teams subscription, would be a violation of the Terms of Service. Whether it is a violation or not, you would still have the issue of needing to transfer the lessons out of the generic account to the Curriculum specialist account to edit and publish and then would have to transfer them back to the generic account.
Again, the best case scenario would be to add the ability to have two owners per lesson. Really, the only two settings the second owner would need would be the ability to set the lesson up in Review and the ability to Export the lesson.
The comment thread for this goes back almost a year, so I really hope this is on the radar to be addressed sometime very soon!
Thank you,
Chris Smith
Hi there, Chris. I really appreciate your thoughtful insight. As we consider how to improve Teams sharing and collaboration features in the future, this is the kind of feedback we need.

Agreeing with the issues regarding ownership of Articulate Rise content in a large organization.
We utilize both internal employees as well as external partners to create our e-learning content.
We need a solution that guarantees we have a comprehensive library of all content created using any of our corporate team licenses.
Having to rely on individuals to remember to add contributors or transfer ownership per course to others is not a good model. It is inefficient and leaves a lot of room for error.
As others have recommended, having the ability to setup a generic support account would be beneficial. This generic account should have the capacity to be configured as an automatic co-owner of all content created using the team licenses by default. This would ensure that businesses have a comprehensive library of all courses and the ability to administer access to this content as needed.
A great deal of time and expense is involved in generating these courses, as a corporation we need functionality within the software that assists our ability to retain and manage our content.
Hi Mary,
Thanks so much for providing context around how your team is using Rise. Everything you've shared makes a lot of sense. Our team is looking at ways we can improve collaborative features in Rise, and I'll be sure your feedback is part of our conversation.

I've previously commented on this issue, but this week we had yet another related problem. A team member had to take time off to deal with an unexpected family emergency.
As luck would have it, he is the owner of a course we needed to republish in a hurry. As a result we have to wait 5 days till he is back in the office.
Hi Karl,
I'm sorry to hear about your teammate - I hope everything is okay with him and his family.
We've shared this discussion and additional insights with our team who are working on Rise updates and features. I promise we'll let you know as soon as we have more to share.
In the meantime, if you need some one-on-one emergency assistance, our Support Team is available and we can discuss any options or outside-the-box ideas to help you keep working while you support your teammates' absence.

First off, loving Rise! It was the right tool for a new project I started working on and we are looking at how we can start using it more. It was great how we could build the course online and both be working on different part simultaneously.
I would like to voice support for either having multiple owners or at least expanding exporting features to collaborators. That was the main issue we ran into and worked around it by copying the course under our own account. Not ideal since we could run into version control issues, but it met our needs for the moment.
Thanks!
Hey Jason,
Glad you're enjoying Rise and I appreciate you chiming in to share your thoughts.
You're in the right place to get updates :)
