Passing score and more !
Please bare with me ...
We have created more than 100 courses using Storyline.
Each course has 10 modules and each module has a quiz that include 4 , 6 or 10 questions.
We need to know how to do the following: (I will highly appreciate if you show me screen shots on how is it done)
1- How to calculate the score out of 100 regardless if the quiz has 4, 6 or 10 questions. Each question is worth 10 points!
2- How do you calculate the average score for all of the 10 modules (Total for each quiz score divided by 10) as a final score for the course and therefore, you pass or fail. (The passing score is 80%)
3- At the end, when the learner sees the final score (let us say more than 80%),learner will see a screen saying congratulations, you passed . We like to take the learner back to LMS (page or tab) where a certificate can be claimed and printed.
How do you do that! from Storyline final page of the course back to LMS where it says "Start course"!
4- If the learner fails (less than 80%) , We would like to have the learner go back and take ONLY the modules that scored less than 80% rather than taking the whole course again.
I will highly appreciate your feedback ASAP and help us by showing screenshots.

Hello Awfa!
I am happy to help!
1. How to calculate the score out of 100 regardless if the quiz has 4, 6 or 10 questions. Each question is worth 10 points!
- I understand that you're looking to calculate the score out of 100 even when each course has a different amount of questions. In that case, you can choose the passing score percentage as 100% and still set each question to be worth 10 points. Here's a screenshot where you can set the pass percentage.
2- How do you calculate the average score for all of the 10 modules (Total for each quiz score divided by 10) as a final score for the course and therefore, you pass or fail. (The passing score is 80%)
- If all of the modules are in one Storyline course, then you can add a Results Slide to track the score of the other Results Slides. If you're looking at calculating the average score for separate Storyline 360 modules, then you'll need to configure this in your LMS.
3- At the end, when the learner sees the final score (let us say more than 80%),learner will see a screen saying congratulations, you passed . We like to take the learner back to LMS (page or tab) where a certificate can be claimed and printed.
How do you do that! from Storyline final page of the course back to LMS where it says "Start course"!- You can add an Exit Course trigger which will close out the course. This article, 4 Ways to Help Learners Exit Your Storyline Course, will help build out an exit slide. You might need to reach out to your LMS admin for guidance if the learner should be returning to another webpage.
4- If the learner fails (less than 80%) , We would like to have the learner go back and take ONLY the modules that scored less than 80% rather than taking the whole course again.
- If all of the modules are in one Storyline course, then you can build this out using triggers and variables. Basically, you'd need a "Retry Quiz" button to go to the scenes where the quizzes are. If the Storyline courses are separated in your LMS, then this would be configured in your LMS rather than in Storyline.
I hope this is helpful information! I know other community members have built similar so I hope they'll jump into this discussion to share tips and tricks.
